"I was very impressed with Billy and his assistant, Mike. Both were very pleasant, knowledgable and efficient. I made the call to have the slow drip in the dishwasher line fixed that I had tried to do myself but was stumped; they showed me how they did it so I'll be able to do that kind of thing in the future. While they were here I had them look at several other things. The first thing was the sprayer attachment to the sink faucet which Billy quickly determined was due to calcium build-up and easily cleaned out each little hole so it sprays like new. Then I had them check a toilet that had a periodic leak from the tank into the bowl. They determined it was another calcium problem and cleaned the area and replaced the flapper. The calcium problems prompted us to take a look at the water softener, and they diagnosed a dead motor. Since I didn't have a manual, Billy pulled it up on his smart phone. The charge for all that was $112.50. The toilet problem started back up later so Billy and Mike came back by the following morning. This time they figured it was the fill valve. They quoted about $70 to replace it, applying the $45 for the previous day's work on the toilet. My wife and I decided against it for now since the leak isn't very bad and being retired, our pennies are more precious. I remembered the half-finished job I had started to fix a leak in the bathtub faucet and had them take a look at it. With their know-how, it was a few minutes for them to finish it. Then I asked if they could look at the dishwasher door which had recently been installed by a family member as a birthday gift for my wife, and the door wasn't closing right. Billy said they don't work on appliances but he took a look at it anyway, went to some effort to check it out and told me what he thought the problem was which the family member and I may be able to adjust. They didn't charge any additional for what they did on this second visit. They said they would do the labor for installing a new water softener for around $150. I was impressed with every aspect of their service and will definitely use them in the future. The only glitch at all was the office person forgetting to call me back on the previous late Friday afternoon, and she apologized for it.

"For a non-exciting task, we had a great experience replacing 3 old leaky toilets. Eddie G did a great job removing the old toilets and cleaning the area before putting the new ones in. He is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what he did and why, which was much appreciated. He is definitely our new go-to person for any future plumbing needs and we definitely recommend him!"

"Although the quote was higher than others that I received I still used them. $807 to run a snake and install a new toilet (I bought the toilet myself) was $300-400 higher than others. I needed the job done and went with their second option which was hand auger and install toilet $567. Justin was nice and explained everything."

"Gustavo came out the same day due to a clogged toilet in one of our bathrooms. He ended up removing the toilet as he was concerned with scratching it with his snake and after doing so found the problem to be a foreign object (from our 3yo) wedged inside the toilet. Unfortunately he was unable to get it un-wedged from either end which forced me to have to buy a brand new toilet, but nonetheless, was very professional, understanding and helpful. Highly recommend ROD Plumbing and thanks for the help Gustavo!"

"CP was friendly and knowledgeable. After telling him what issues I had, he diagnosed the problem and located the clog. He quoted additional work for me to do in the near future due to a nearby tree root system damaging the line. He also replaced an intake water valve on a toilet that was leaking. I'll hire this company again to complete the repairs."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

While you shouldn’t increase the flow of your low-flow toilet by adjusting the water level in the toilet bowl set by the manufacturer, you can make the flow as efficient as possible by ensuring the rim jets under the rim are unobstructed. To do this, use a mirror to look under the rim and scrub them with a toothbrush or a small wire to clear any debris stuck in the holes. You can also watch for leaks, make sure the internal components are in good shape, and replace them if necessary.

Sealant doesn’t need to be applied to the bolts, but it can be a good way to stop an active leak in the moment. However, don’t rely on it as a cure-all; instead, make sure to fix the problem at the source by changing or tightening the bolts.

If you do use sealant, make sure to spread it thickly and evenly across the bolts and the tank's porcelain.

One of the many benefits of a pressure-assist toilet is how long it lasts. You can expect a well-maintained one to last up to 30 years. That's five years longer than a standard gravity-fed toilet, so it can be a worthwhile investment if you’re willing to spend more on your toilet installation.

Depending on the issue and materials, costs range from $150 to $500.

The main causes for a leaky toilet flapper include wear and tear or a broken or incorrectly installed toilet flapper chain. If your toilet flapper is torn or deteriorated, it can’t provide a proper seal to keep water from running. Meanwhile, a chain that has come loose, was moved, or just wasn’t installed right can prevent your flapper from fully closing.
