"Brendin and his crew did an outstanding job.  We were expecting the repipe to be quite an ordeal (another bidder had told us it would be "brutal") but we were pleasantly surprised by how painless it actually was.  They planned the work so that we had access to at least one working bathroom at all times during the repair and they were very careful to protect against dust and damage to our property.  At bid, they estimated it would take 18 - 24 holes to access all connections but by using a remote camera to investigate inside the walls, they were able to get it done with only 16, thereby reducing follow on repair costs.  They showed up to work on time, kept us continuously informed as to what was going on, and cleaned up thoroughly when the job was done. They made suggestions and asked for our input when choices presented themselves.  They provided three new shower valves, two wall plates, and two spigots since the existing ones were soldered and couldn't be easily reused - at no additional cost to us.  A couple of minor mistakes were corrected immediately upon discovery.  They completed the work in four days, well within the range quoted at bid. They recommended a sheetrock repairer/painter who also did a great job.
Cold is on the Right's bid wasn't the lowest but I can't imagine getting a better result from any of the others.  Repipe reviews from other Angie's List members swayed our decision to go with this contractor and we are very glad we did.  This contractor is highly recommended for repipe projects or any other plumbing need.

"The day before a party a toilet began leaking! Usual plumber did not respond so tried Angie's for a recommendation. Excalibur saved the day!! Plumber arrived promptly, diagnosed the problem and immediately began to repair and correct. Also checked other three toilets in house as a courtesy. He was very professional and efficent in his work and thankfully responded quickly. We will use Excalibur again."

"I had a quote for $3,900 from one company and $5,900 for another. They wanted to dig under my house as they said there was a busted pipe somewhere. The tech from Crowe's came in and said he would like to drop a camera down in there and after he did that he said he wanted to lift the toilet and take a look that way. My total for all the repairs ended up being $520 so I didn't have to go into debt to get this fixed after all. I'm so happy I called these guys"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Common problems include leaks, clogs, and low water pressure. Regular maintenance prevents major disruptions.

Yes, you can fill your toilet tank manually to help it flush, or you can pour the water directly into the bowl to flush it manually. This will work for the majority of toilets, as most use a gravity feed system. However, you should only ever use this as a temporary solution. If your toilet tank isn’t filling, you should find out why. First, make sure the speedy valve connected to your toilet and your water main are open. If that doesn’t solve the issue, call in a professional to address the problem.

To avoid the high costs of plumbing repairs, watch for potential problems. If you see any signs of a leak, consider hiring a professional plumber. A pro can assess the level of damage and make the appropriate repairs.

Plumbing leaks are always better tackled immediately. You can also fix any minor repairs yourself or ask the plumber if they can use less expensive materials.

Yes, you’ll need to replace your toilet’s wax seal any time you move the toilet. This is because movement of the toilet will break the seal, rendering the remaining wax useless. Thankfully, replacing a wax seal is fairly easy, and the seal itself only costs $2 to $10 at most home improvement stores.

When replacing a wax seal you typically also have to replace the closet bolts that secure the toilet to the flange. These are usually about 2.5" - 3" long and have to be cut once the toilet is secure. Cutting them usually makes them too short to reuse.

The average cost to replace a toilet fill valve is around $100, and prices range from $50 up to $150, depending on your location, the experience of the plumber, and how accessible your toilet is. In most cases, a professional plumber can replace your fill valve in under an hour, although it might take longer if they also need to fix or replace other components at the same time.
