Small jobs welcome

"Rigo and his nephew started hanging drywall in my master bedroom on Tuesday 11/08/22 and had the finishing completed on Friday 11/11/22. They were very respectful toward my wife and me as well as the rest of our home. They cleaned up after each day. We are very, very pleased with J and G Drywall, they are truely professional and know what they're doing. They exceeded our expectations, we will hire them again for our next drywall project."

"I found James Lynch Drywall here on Homeadvisor and scheduled an appointment. Rob came out on time and gave me an estimate. He originally thought it would be a week or so before they could complete the work but were able to work it out to come 2 days later. Ian came to complete the job. He was on time and got right to work and completed my project in 2 hours! He did a great job and he cleaned everything up. I would definitely recommend James Lynch Drywall. A great family run company! Thank you!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can mount a TV on plaster walls—as long as you attach it to the studs. Alternatively, you can use toggle bolts, molly bolts, or another type of hardware that’s strong enough to support a TV.

If you aren’t comfortable with this type of project, you can hire a pro. The cost of mounting a TV to a plaster wall ranges from $25 to $600 (or more), depending on the TV’s weight, size, and other factors.

When sanding drywall mud, you’re going to create a very fine dust that may contain silica. Silica dust contains crystalline silica, which can cause long-term illnesses for people who inhale it in significant quantities. Wear a mask while sanding drywall. Then dampen a drywall sponge to wipe the dust off the drywall, helping to reduce the amount of dust that may become airborne.

If you don’t have studs in the area where you want to install your TV mount, you may still be able to install a TV mount on drywall. The easiest way to install a mount on drywall is by using drywall anchors—but not just any plastic anchors. Choose molly bolts or toggle anchors, which have a weight capacity of around 50 pounds. For added support, consider pairing drywall anchors with a wall mounting plate. Extra heavy TVs may need to be mounted via the ceiling joists or beams.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.

Drywall tape is made of paper, while drywall mesh is made of fiberglass or metal. Drywall mesh patches are suitable for repairing small holes in drywall, while paper drywall tape holds a crease better for corners. You need joint compound to adhere drywall tape to the wall, while mesh patches may be self-adhesive.
