Small jobs welcome

"J and G Drywall is a fantastic, top notch professional service! The owner came and repaired a large section of loose drywall tape in the main living area. He sealed cracks in the living room, dining room and kitchen. He expertly repaired problems with the cathedral ceiling where some holes had developed from previous owner hanging a model airplane there. He repaired an area above my chimney where a small amount of water damage had previously caused some drywall peeling. The walls are now prepped for my painting project and are like new again! The owner completed all the repairs himself in an efficient and expert manner. A true craftsman with excellent skills and professionalism. I would highly recommend this service to anyone with any type of drywall repair, restoration or other need. Super pleased!"

"I wanted to take the time to share my experience with Premium Drywall. I had the pleasure of meeting Jesus during this project for my home. Jesus was responsive to my inquiries, and communicated effectively throughout the process. Jesus was punctual and respectful when delivering services, and he completed the job within the agreed-upon timeline. I highly recommend anyone, looking to accomplish a professional drywall finishing project, to contact Premium Drywall. The price of the service most definitely aligned with the quality of work. Jesus paid attention to detail in areas like corners, ceilings, and around electrical outlets. The drywall was properly sanded to achieve a smooth finish, and the area was left clean and tidy. After assessing the quality of the work, the professionalism of Premium Drywall, and the overall experience I am a highly satisfied customer! Thank you!"

"They are professional and prompt, accurate in their estimate and priced very reasonably. When unsure they ask, they are responsive to feedback and immediately fix anything mentioned. Pleasant to deal with and so respectful! They have now painted our bathrooms, main living rooms and our back deck posts that needed staining. They can handle a variety of painting tasks including removing wallpaper, putting down stain/smell blocker, painting trim and ceiling coffers and brought their own scaffolding. They were great to do additional coats when needed (like taking color to white) and were easy to get a hold of. They cleaned up after and put everything back where they found it. I will be hiring them again when Iâ m ready to paint my basement. I highly recommend this company!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Brick and stucco are a lot more different. You must use picture hanging clips designed for brick walls, or use a plaster rail system with adjustable hooks. Any other type of hanging hardware will cause damage to the bricks behind. You won’t be able to really use nails, either, because they’re not strong enough to go into the bricks.

Ceiling-mounted curtains won’t damage the ceiling if they’re installed properly. Using the right anchors or securing the brackets into joists will ensure the curtain weight is properly supported and prevent damage. However, overtightening screws, using weak anchors, or repeatedly removing and reinstalling hardware in the same spot can cause cracking or sagging over time. In that case, you might have to call a pro for ceiling repair.

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.
