"My only issue with the blown insulation was that the company blew the insulation over the few items in the attic. My daughter was at the house when it was done and said they didn't ask if it should be moved. They installed measuring tape in different places throughout the attic to ensure the proper depth was achieved and pointed these out when done. They also installed the air vents on the angles to ensure the air flow was proper."

"We would recommend On the Spot. They removed all insulation in attic and basement and replaced it with the appropriate insulation for the house. They covered floors, had a dumpster and left no mess."

"The Moore brothers were great. They satisfied my Home Owners' Association with a detailed proposal within an hour of inspecting the job. They itemized and described the work, which included cleaning off the mold, replacing insulation, repairing joists, encapsulating the crawlspace, and creating a French Drain on the exterior of my unit to redirect the rain. They also set up my dehumidifier in the space with a wireless meter I can read from inside . Their price was in line and they did everything they promised in good order, good humor, and respect. Three other companies bid and were not even close... in promptness, plan, OR price. I highly recommend Jon and Danny Moore."

"When I had originally contacted Bia Insulation I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy the process was to set up my appointment with them. Once everything logistically was taken care of, insulation install process came and went in a swift manner. I was highly impressed with not only how professional but personable Jeremy was. He was my go to guy from start to finish and that meant a lot to me. Having the one point of contact throughout the whole process was breathe of fresh air. As far as savings go, my wallet and my wife are VERY happy. We noticed savings on our bill within the first couple of months."

"When we get work done in our home, we expect 3 things: responsiveness, competitive pricing, punctuality, and quality work. Hood's has all of these in spades. We worked with Daniel initially to come do a quote for removing a large mirror (appx. 8ft x 3ft) above our double vanity that had come unglued and fallen off the wall. We need this eyesore hauled off, the section of drywall behind it replaced, and the entire bathroom painted. Daniel scheduled was able to come out in 2 days, and gave a quote that was better than 2 other Angie's List handyman services we had come out.
His crew were able to start a week later, and called to confirm the time they would arrive the day before. Daniel and Jerry brought the drywall and removed the mirror, then got the new piece up. Gerald and Jerry finished mudding in and sanding the drywall, then started on the painting. All 3 members of Hood's team were very personable, professional, and great to talk to. They worked hard, efficiently, and the finished product looked awesome. This is a professional operation all the way around. We will definitely use them again for work, no doubt about it. Thanks guys!!!

"The cost is for 2 visits and they service 3 units per visit. They recently tore off some insulation to get to an inspection and didn't put it back. They fell all over themselves to fix it when I called them. My A/C froze up a couple of weeks ago at 9 o'clock at night during the week and someone came right over at a low cost. We've been super happy with these folks. They've been great!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

You should not leave drywall outside, especially overnight or in a wet, humid climate. Exposure to rain and humidity can damage the drywall, weakening its structural integrity and making it susceptible to mold growth. If you must leave drywall outside during a project, be sure to cover it with a tarp or keep it inside a storage shed to protect it. Even drywall intended for exterior projects requires a protective moisture barrier. For best results, store any extra drywall in a dry area away from the elements.

Drywall can get wet and dry out without sustaining permanent damage, but only if the water damage is minor. If you have a small leak and are quick to correct the issue and set up blower fans and dehumidifiers, your drywall should dry out. If the leak is persistent, the drywall becomes totally waterlogged, or mold begins forming on the drywall, you should remove and replace it.

Yes, you can mount a TV on plaster walls—as long as you attach it to the studs. Alternatively, you can use toggle bolts, molly bolts, or another type of hardware that’s strong enough to support a TV.

If you aren’t comfortable with this type of project, you can hire a pro. The cost of mounting a TV to a plaster wall ranges from $25 to $600 (or more), depending on the TV’s weight, size, and other factors.
