Michele Thomas is the owner/contractor of A-1 Certified Service, Inc and graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is the 2nd generation of a long standing, family owned business. Over 40-years’ experience in service and installation of air conditioning and heating systems, and Home Performance (Insulation, Air Sealing, Duct Sealing). We are the East Tennessee Premier Daikin Dealer and TVA EnergyRight Contractor. In fact, A1CSI has won the Best and Customer Service with the TVA EnergyRight program for the last two consecutive years. We offer financing to meet your needs. We hold an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

If there were zero stars I would give it. We had difficulty with the upstairs air conditioning unit keeping up in the heat. Upstairs temperature got no cooler than 78 degrees. Technician was helpful, finding an air filter we didn’t know existed. Cleaned the unit. No problems there. Claimed the unit was overcharged and drew off some of the refrigerant. Within a few days, best the unit can do upstairs is 86 degrees. Decided I didn’t need to be doing business with them. When I called about getting a refund for the part of the year-long service agreement that hadn’t been used, I was told that wasn’t the way it worked. I asked them to explain how it did work. Representative talked to me like I was an idiot and couldn’t possibly understand what she was explaining. When I pointed out that we were simply talking over one another, her response was, “Well ONE of us is.” Never again. And I will actively seek to keep others from using this business. If there is a legitimate reason for you not to be able to meet my request, then that’s fine: explain it. However, don’t insult your customers or treat them like idiots. Even if you think so. I’m not saying the customer is always right. The customer is simply the customer. But if you are going to use sarcasm to win your point, then don’t be surprised when they aren’t your customers anymore.

A-1 was very efficient and they installed both units in 1 day. They arrived on the job on schedule and gladly answered all questions we had concerning installation and operation of the units.

Unit was not working and was told it would be two weeks before they could come out. What a joke. They take your money for a service contract and then don’t show up when you need them. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

You were highly agitated and insulting that we could not support you immediately. At that point, you canceled your service agreement. But, I digress, many other service companies are facing the same issue with respect to employment, and we were trying to meet your needs based on these challenging times. A-1 Certified is a great company to work with. When I built my house, they installed my HVAC system. I have had a few items go out on my unit like a zone board and a pressure switch, but A1-Certified has been very responsive, professional and fair. I purchased an extended warranty when I purchased the HVAC system and it has covered the cost of the repairs. I would recommend A1-Certified to anybody.

Michele and her crews are professional and work fast. Our Daikin dual fuel heat pump system is super efficient, very quiet, and the outdoor unit is much smaller than the old AC condenser.

Marcus kept us informed of his arrival, was polite and efficient when he arrived. We scheduled initial checkup through a "deal" on Angie's List, then had a followup visit from Marcus later in the week to address a couple of issues with blower. He showed before and after images of blower motor and fan (cleaning). He was communicative about what needed to be addressed and what didn't. Great work all around.

The top-notch technicians from A-1 Certified Service replaced our aged heat and a/c unit both quickly and efficiently. These professionals corrected the errors made in the original duct system and return installation, correcting the previous contractors mistakes. The new Coleman system is head and shoulders better than the old system was when it was new and even contains a heat pump! We had several additional inches of insulation blown in our attack, and the gentleman worked hard not to make a mess. To complete the up-date a tank-less, gas water heater was finally added with new exhaust to resolve an existing venting problem. Their employees were always courteous, prompt and knowledgeable. From start to finish I got to meet and work with a number of their staff. Sorry I can't recall all their names to thank them personally. We would recommend your company to anyone who asks. Thanks again.

MISREPRESENTATION, INCOMPETANCE, PROPERTY DAMAGE and FRAUD A-1 Certified Service MISREPRESENTED THEIR TECHNICAL EXPERTISE so that we would accept their estimate about the amount of time that was necessary to install system. A-1 Certified Service did not install our Blue Ridge Ductless Mini-Split System according to the manufacturer's instructions and as a result it did not function for more than 6 months. I was the one who finally figured out why it was not working with help from the manufacturer technical support. A-1 Certified Service DID NOT INSTALL CRITICAL COMPONENTS of our Mini-Split system which were required by the manufacturer's instructions. A-1 Certified Service billed us to use their materials when the same materials that were required were already included with our Mini-Split system components. A-1 Certified Service did not install our Jacuzzi Freestanding Whirlpool Tub according to the manufacturer's instructions. A-1 Certified Service severely damaged the Whirlpool Tub base, overflow drain, faucet supply lines, ceramic flooring and ATTEMPTED TO HIDE THE DAMAGE from us. A-1 Certified Service CLAIMED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, that they had spoken to Westinghouse Water Heater Technical Support about troubleshooting the problems with our Westinghouse Liquid Propane Tankless Water Heater. The documented email evidence from Westinghouse shows that they have never received a call for technical support from A-1 Certified Service AT ANY TIME. Westinghouse Water Heater Technical Support and nonetheless have CHARGED US FOR THE TROUBLESHOOTING WHICH IS FRAUD. WE WILL NEVER USE A-1 CERTIFIED SERVICE AGAIN AND WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE READING THIS CONSIDER CHOOSING ANOTHER AIR CONDITIONING AND PLUMBING COMPANY FOR THEIR NEEDS. If A-1 Certified Service has treated us this way, how many other customers have they cheated and lied to who were unaware and unable to understand what this company was doing to them?
