"Innovative Restorations repaired and remodeled our master bath and it was truly a great experience. We had used another contractor and it was a disaster (all of the previous work had to be completely redone). Dean helped us make a plan to fix single thing and he was so reassuring. Keenan, Whit, and JT did the work of repair and installation and they were respectful, clean, and skilled. They always double checked to make sure we were on the same page and were happy to explain anything. It was such a great experience and I would definitely recommend them."

"Although this was a "simple tune-up" vs. a large-scale remodel, Kitchen Tune-Up treated us as a valuable client. Our cabinet guru, Nathan, did a great job of fixing all the annoying small things that made us grit our teeth about using the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. The whole process from sales (Joe) to assessment (Joe and Wes, the owner) to Nathan's precision fixes was outstanding."

"They installed 2 new water heaters with a circulation system to provide virtually instant and endless hot water. We went this route because our house is all electric and electric tankless water heaters arenâ t really up to the task. They also had to subcontract electrical work to supply the necessary power upgrade. We expected this to be a 1 day job, but the electrician didnâ t have everything required so it dragged out to a second dayâ ¦ meaning another day out of work so we could be there to give them access to the property. Then later when we tried to use hot water for a bath, there was only about 2 minutes of hot. Turns out the circulation system was installed backwards, so the circulating water was hot, but once the pipes were depleted, cold water was fed to the spigots. Disappointing, but to their credit, someone came out Saturday, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Overall, mildly annoying and a bit careless, but everyone was friendly and responsive, and the end result appears to be just what we wanted."

"I had a variety of renovations that needed to be done. I felt that Mr. Handyman was pricey, but was told that it was because the company does quality work. Mr. Handyman replaced a bathtub with a walk-in shower in the hall bathroom for my father-in-law, who is handicap. It was pricey, but worth it because it ended up being gorgeous! So I had Mr. Handyman install drywall into the upstairs bonus room. Mr. Handyman outsourced the work. It was horrific! The holes for the outlets ended up being larger than the outlet covers. How can a drywall company make a mistake like that? Mr. Handyman did give me a discount for the issue, but I would rather have had the drywall done correctly. At roughly the same time, Mr. Handyman installed the kitchen countertop backsplash. The person who installed it was not doing it correctly and had shut off the electricity to the refrigerator without telling me. I had to correct him when he was installing the tile. In the end, the backsplash came out looking beautiful excepted for a tiny section next to one of the outlets in which one of the tile pieces broke. The tile that I bought was fragile, so it was not that big of a deal, but the person really should have redone that tile. I also got sick from food that had spoiled due to the refrigerator being off for so long. Mr. Handyman gave me a discount for my getting sick. I did not mention the broken piece of tile because I had already decided not to continue hiring Mr. Handyman by that time. In summary, if it were not for the dry wall, I would hire Mr. Handyman again to install a walk-in shower for the master bathroom. However, I would never hire Mr. Handyman to install drywall. 0.5 stars for the drywall, 5 stars for the walk-in shower, and 3 1/2 stars for the kitchen backsplash. This was back in the fall of 2019. The customer service was good so I felt bad about not giving a good review, but then when I saw that someone else also did not have the drywall installed correctly, I felt that I should say something."

"Doug did a great job of finding the problem quickly and took time to explain in detail why I had an issue with my kitchen sink. He was very friendly and professional. But I wished that Mr. Rooter would allow a senior discount due to our fixed incomes. But everything else was handled graciously."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

There are many benefits of converting a tub to a walk-in shower, including:

  • Increasing home value (if there’s another tub in the house)

  • Taking up less space and improving bathroom space flow

  • Making bathrooms look larger

  • Improving home safety by removing a major trip-and-fall hazard

  • Easing showering for those who benefit from more accessibility

  • Saving money on water bills

It will take between three and five days to complete this project. Plumbing a bathroom is not an easy job. The process of roughing in the plumbing and installing all the fixtures takes a fair amount of time. Take your time and make sure you do the job right or you could end up with costly leaks.

Depending on the type of renovations needed, the cost to build an ADA bathroom ranges between $700 and $8,050. On average, most homeowners pay around $4,375 for this remodel. This type of remodeling requires following strict ADA accessibility guidelines to ensure a universal design.

In short, it depends. When it comes to accessibility, a roll-in shower is easier to enter than a walk-in bathtub because it doesn’t have the extra step required to access the bathing area. On the downside, walk-in showers can be less safe for seniors who struggle with standing or balancing. Parents of young children may also prefer walk-in bathtubs for their ease of bathing children who don’t yet know how to clean themselves.

A bathroom without a bathtub is called a half bath or powder room. This type of bathroom commonly contains a toilet and a sink and is smaller than a standard bathroom that includes a bathtub or shower. Half baths or powder rooms are commonplace on the first story of a home and are ideal as a guest toilet.
