"I am so grateful for Angie's List in this case because I called this plumber based on the reviews here. He took time to answer my many questions (I was considering all sorts of hot water heaters--tankless, traditional, hybrid, etc.--in the end, we went with a traditional one.) His price was better than competitors and he was responsive, professional, and did a fabulous job! Pleasant to work with and efficient."

Small jobs welcome

"Great Job! I had a very slow draining tub. After unsuccessfully attempting to unclog the drain with a coat hanger I made an appointment with Mr. Rooter Plumbing. Mark from Mr. Rooter soon found that the problem was an issue with the way the original drain pipes were put together which caused the pipe to eventually clog. Mark unclogged the pipe and corrected the original flaw by replacing some of the pipe system. Mark was very polite and professional. He was careful to put shoe covers on whenever he came inside.
I am so glad that I called Mr. Rooter Plumbing. If I ever need a plumber in the future I will not hesitate to call Mr. Rooter Plumbing again.

Benjamin Franklin's technicians performed outstanding service, installing an entire new and superior tankless hot water system, replacing our inferior and dangerously flawed tankless system that no longer performed. The lead technician was up front regarding the reasons for replacement, the cost of replacement, as well as less expensive alternatives. After we decided to replace with a new tankless system and because of the price point, the lead technician suggested time plan payment alternatives which was very helpful.

The day of installation, the crew arrived on time as promised and suggested that the unit be placed on the outside of the house instead of underneath in the crawl space, allowing for easy access for maintenance and trouble shooting as well as for safety. An excellent suggestion since the old tankless system had been installed against a wall in the crawl space underneath our bedroom floor which the lead technician noted, would have been bad for us if the corroded pipes had started leaking gas! Anyway, the entire job was completed without a hitch and again right on time as promised.

The new system has been working perfectly for six months now and we could not be more pleased! I would highly recommend Benjamin Franklin and their technical crews to anyone with plumbing issues - two thumbs up!

Septic Repairs
Holy cow!! We found it!
Almost looks like we didn't just install 400' of 4'' Storm Drainage to save the septic system from near total failure.

Sometimes excessive storm water can wreak havoc on a septic system and cause the system to break down prematurely.
The septic system was drowning, we suggested diverting the storm water to protect the septic tank & field lines. Problem Solved.

"I have never worked with more intelligent, professional, and kind experts. He communicated beautifully and always answered questions with knowledge and ease. I tried for 4 years to find a plumber that would fix a horrible problem that a terrible contractor created and this was the first plumber that knew exactly what to do. I am so grateful and impressed. I trust them and will continue to call on only them for plumbing. Thank you!!!"

"The men were polite, considerate, careful, and did a wonderful job. They left no mess. We have a beautiful, safe, walk-in shower now for my husband who has a tendency to fall. Work was done in one day. A certified plumber inspected their ongoing work."

"At first I gave them a bad review because of the person they sent to do the work. After talking to the owner and his team I understood a little more of what went into this project. It was not a simple project to begin with and I was a little frustrated that it was taking so long. After sending other people to finish the project my bathroom is coming along nicely. They are even fixing the mistakes the first person made. Over all the team is very nice and easy to work with. Being a recently widowed woman Tim met me at Floor & Decor to help me with the items I needed to buy. He let me pick what I wanted but was there for guidance. He personally brought over a niche to put in my shower and sent picture of shower faucets I might like."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Rust-tinted water in historic Walhalla homes indicates actively corroding pipes requiring extensive plumbing replacement. Recurring slow drains point directly to tree roots blocking your main sewer line. Gurgling sounds from toilets on rural properties signal a failing septic drain field. Additionally, watch for late-winter ceiling stains or reduced water pressure after a cold snap, as these point to cracked supply lines from partial freezing.

Helpful?

A major warning sign is a contractor ignoring mandatory permits for significant plumbing work. Always reject quotes lacking a state license number or verifiable local references within the Walhalla area. Watch out for estimates that fail to specify exact materials or ignore your property's well and septic setup. Out-of-town operators appearing after winter storms without proper credentials present serious liability risks for your home.

Helpful?

Permitted plumbing in Walhalla requires official inspections before walls are closed, which splits projects into multiple visits. Sourcing specialty parts for historic homes or ordering non-stocked fixtures also extends timelines. In older properties, opening a wall to fix a simple leak exposes extensive pipe corrosion requiring a larger, multi-day repair. Finally, severe winter freezes create surge demand, stretching basic repairs across several days.

Helpful?

Proper freeze protection is critical for plumbing in Walhalla, as temperatures frequently drop below freezing. Insulation for pipes in crawl spaces prevents recurring failures. Additionally, contractors must account for rocky soil when trenching lines to avoid pipe stress. Connecting new pipes to deteriorated historic infrastructure will cause early failures. Choose materials that withstand the local chloramine-treated water or acidic well water to extend the life of the system.

Helpful?

You will find several types of licensed professionals handling plumbing across SC. General contractors tackle standard residential repairs and fixture installations. Because many rural properties rely on private wells and septic systems, specialized well and pump technicians or septic-focused experts handle those specific needs. Drain and sewer specialists focus exclusively on clearing root intrusions and repairing aging underground lines. Always verify your chosen professional holds the appropriate state certification.
