"Brandon and Haley with Quality Flooring and renovations did an outstanding job renovating our powder room. They came and worked in our home on a holiday and delivered as promised. The old wood was replaced with new wood. They installed a new toilet and new sink and our powder room looks magnificent. Can’t recommend this company high enough! Call them today!"

"Williams was a pleasure to work with. They refinished a tub and the tile around the tub. They also refinished a tile walk in shower. There was a piece of broken tile and they fixed that as well as some holes where handicap bars were located. It is very difficult to even find where the tile was broken now. They did excellent work and performed the work exactly when they said they would. The prices were very reasonable and they were a pleasure to work with."

"Excellent. Darryl, our project manager, was informative but not pushy. He had great insight into the process, what we needed, and how to take care of us. He did not pressure us to incorporate unnecessary upgrades and collaborated with our homeowner's insurance for us, making the process simple, painless, and easy. The install went smoothly. They were able to install earlier than estimated (by about 2 weeks) and the crew worked very efficiently, completing the work in about 5-6 hours. My only minor complaint is that they left the trailer full of debris in our driveway until about 7pm that evening, even though they were done around 12:30pm. Even at that point though, we texted Darryl and he quickly got a crew out to remove the trailer for us. Even when they made a mistake, they were very quick to correct it. Excellent customer service."

We were very pleased with all aspects of the service we received at Rocky Tops.  The owner, Mr. Scott Thompson, runs a very professional operation, and was extremely helpful and cooperative throughout the entire process.

I had never replaced countertops before, so I was very happy that Scott walked us through the whole process and let us know exactly what to expect.

The first order of stone we ordered came from a distributor located in Charlotte.  We liked the appearance, but were a little concerned about the amount of fill in the slabs.  When the stone arrived at Scott's workshop, he immediately called me and suggested that we send the material back to the distributor.  He said it had a prohibitively high amount of fill and was not worth nearly what was being charged.  We agreed, and Scott took care of sending the stone back to Charlotte.  We were a bit wiser the next time we looked, and found some beautiful granite that actually cost us less money.

Scott and his crew came out to measure twice.  The removal and installation was done in a day and went very smoothly.  We were particularly impressed with his crew and the care they took to minimize the dust and to clean up the kitchen when they completed their work.  The new countertops are beautiful, the price was fair, and Mr. Thompson was great to work with.  We would recommend Rocky Tops for this type of work without reservation.

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.

Costs range from $5 to $15 per square foot for installation and $150 to $600 for repairs, depending on the material and complexity.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.
