Small jobs welcome

"Kevin installed a mailbox post for me. He was very professional, on time, and installed mailbox post within an hour. Had issue with post showing splits. I called and he filled the section of split wood with silicone. I appreciated that he came by, fixed the issue without any extra charge. I'm thankful Kevin's company performed the installation even though the mailbox installation was a much smaller project than he usually performs. Thank you Kevin and company for helping me with my small project!"

"We needed to replace a crawl space accesss door that was poorly done by someone else. Jon was creative in designing a new frame and door, and executed the project as efficiently as possible. He gave us a quick response to our inquiry, outlined what he proposed to do and did the work the next day because he had an open time slot. He also cleaned up which is a welcome change from others. We look forward to continuing to work with him on other projects."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Your pilot light needs to be on whenever you’re using your furnace to heat your home. However, you might decide to turn it off during the summer months, when you don’t need heating. Doing this can save you a little bit of money on utility costs—just make sure you’re fine with relighting your pilot light (or hiring a professional to do it) when fall comes around and you’re ready to get cozy.

There are several maintenance tips you should take to ensure your pellet stove's safety and proper maintenance. You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. It’s also important to get a professional inspection every year and install a carbon monoxide detector close to your stove. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.

You should change the batteries in your smoke detectors at least once per year. Mark it on your calendar or make it a holiday or birthday tradition so that you always remember it. You should also be testing your smoke alarms monthly to ensure they’re working properly and can alert you in case of an emergency.

Yes, a hot or overheating outlet is a fire hazard and can cause a fire. An outlet becoming hot indicates an electrical problem, such as an overloaded circuit, loose connections, or a faulty component. The heat from these issues can ignite nearby flammable materials like curtains or furniture. If you notice an outlet is hot to the touch, turn off the power at the circuit breaker, unplug any connected devices, and consult a qualified electrician. If a fire does start, use a Class C fire extinguisher or baking soda to suppress it, or evacuate immediately and call the fire department.

While adding fire sprinklers to your home, you may want to consider other fire prevention and protective measures. Get your smoke alarms and CO alarms inspected and replaced, if needed. Add fire doors to vulnerable areas of your home. Inspect or purchase fire extinguishers. For exterior protection, consider fire-smart landscaping practices .
