"We had lived in our home for almost 29 years and what started out as a minor job to repair our livingroom floor turned out to be a major repair for almost our whole downstairs because of termites. A&B started the job and were very professional and took good care of us while the work was being done. They kept us up on the work being done and used top notch professional people to treat our home for the termites, rebuild our floors, walls, insulation, electrical work, sheetrock, painters and a new HVAC system. They are truly givers and not takers! Shane, the Field Manager, was very knowlegable, professional and made sure we were pleased with the work that was done. They did an excellent job on the rebuild and we highly recommed A&B Building Group for any job that you may need, small or large. We are so glad to get our home back and it is much better shape and nicer than when we first bought it! It looks like a new home! I give them more than 5 stars! P. Warren"

"We thought we had foundation problems and contacted CNT for an estimate on repairs. ED VanOsdol came out at the specified
time to give us a quote. Ed generated a computerized lay out of the structure of the house and then crawed under the house and made pictures of the structure. He indentified one problem area which was minor and a potential problem area. He explained
what was happening to the foundation and because it was so minor, he told me how I could fix it myself. I told him that I would
pay for the inspection, but he said it was not necessary. If I ever do have problems with my foundation, I will certainly use them
for the repairs. I would recomend CNT to everyone. They are very professional and honest.

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Lexington, unexpected issues can include the need for additional soil testing due to expansive clay, installing new drainage systems, or addressing hidden mold when walls are opened. Electrical or insulation upgrades may be required if deficiencies are found. Delays from permit reviews, temporary structural supports, or utility relocations can also arise, so it’s wise to plan for contingencies during your structural engineering project.

Helpful?

In Lexington, watch for foundation cracks wider than 1/4 inch, doors or windows that stick, or uneven floors, especially after heavy rain. Signs like stair-step cracks in brick, sagging rooflines, or visible separation in load-bearing walls also indicate it’s time for a structural inspection. Schedule a professional assessment if your home is older or after severe storms common to the area.

Helpful?

For minor foundation cracks under 1/8 inch in Lexington, clean the area and apply masonry crack filler, then monitor for changes using a crack gauge ruler. Use a dehumidifier to control basement moisture and regularly clear gutters to prevent water pooling near your foundation. Check crawl space vents for proper airflow and keep shrubs trimmed back. If you notice worsening movement or persistent dampness, contact a local expert.

Helpful?

Lexington homeowners are prioritizing crawl space encapsulation, French drains, and advanced foundation waterproofing to address local humidity and clay soils. Open floor plans with reinforced beams, vaulted ceilings, and screened porches are popular upgrades. Many also request structural support for solar panel installations, heavy HVAC systems, and energy-efficient improvements like spray foam insulation to adapt homes for Lexington’s climate.

Helpful?

In Lexington, it’s helpful to keep a digital level, measuring tape, crack gauge ruler, and moisture meter for monitoring your foundation and load-bearing walls. A sturdy flashlight, dehumidifier, and waterproof sealant are useful for managing humidity and spotting early issues. Maintain a detailed log of any changes, and keep plastic sheeting, duct tape, and basic hand tools ready for quick repairs or temporary fixes as needed.
