The Tile Crew is a full service installation company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. We are available for remodel projects, new construction, residential and commercial. We specialize in tile, stone, kitchen backsplashes, bathroom remodel, showers, tubs, fireplaces, flooring, pools, and more! We help with the entire design process, layout and installation.

"The tile is actually marble and not ceramic but there is no other option. Needed to fix a job done by another contractor. The other contractor removed the old shower floor tile and two rows. The tile crew came in and installed the pan and retiled floor and the the two rows on the walls. It looks beautiful and seems to be now angled to go into the drain instead of puddle around the sides."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Some root cellars are made with concrete, but a dirt floor may be better for your crops' longevity. Dirt can help maintain an appropriate temperature and humidity level, while the concrete might suck up all the moisture. Dirt floors can also bring down the overall cost of your root cellar. But, if you’re going with a dirt floor, make sure you properly insulate between your house and the root cellar.

Yes, flooring should go under the fridge and your other large appliances. Installing it underneath creates a seamless appearance and makes it easier to move appliances for cleaning or replacement. It is also essential for protecting your subfloor. A kitchen contractor will help you find suitable flooring that is durable enough to handle the weight of your fridge without denting or cracking.

Yes, you can mop hardwood floors with a damp flat or string mop as long as it is not soaking wet. Always avoid leaving standing water or fully soaking your hardwood floors, even if they are properly finished. A slightly wet mop, with or without cleaning solutions, will not damage the wood.

Most experts agree that the best thing with which to clean epoxy floors is a diluted mixture of ammonia and warm water. You can also use mild dish soap diluted with warm water or a degreaser (such as Simple Green or Goof Off) diluted with warm water. Some soap-based cleaners can leave a haze. If you notice this, further dilute the mixture with water or use a different detergent that does not leave a film. You should never use harsh cleaning chemicals, any type of acidic compound (such as vinegar or citrus-based cleansers), or harsh scrubbers like steel wool or hard bristle brushes.

Tile—specifically smaller, mosaic-style tiles—is the best type of flooring for building a walk-in shower base. Shower pans come with a threshold and sidewalls to contain the water, but tile can be set into the shower base. This creates a walk-in shower floor that gently slopes toward the drain to keep water from getting out and into the rest of the bathroom.
