"We are so happy with our new walk in shower. They removed a pink 1979 bathtub jacuzzi and pink wall tile, installing a large subway tile with sliding glass enclosure walk in shower. Everything is 5 star, from the two men who finished in less than a days work, to their kindness, professionalism, and happy demeanor to the install and cleanup and the end productâ top notch, first class, and **** Five star. If you purchase an install, I hope you get these two guys!!!"

"I would highly recommend Art Wood Designs. They did a fantastic job removing our old cabinets and countertop and then installing the new cabinets. They were very meticulous in everything they did and very professional. I am extremely happy with my new kitchen cabinets!!"

"I hired Cransten to remodel my bathroom. It was getting old and in need of an update. They came in, replaced the floor, built a shower pan, and laid custom tile around my shower. I was impressed with how friendly and professional they were. I would definitely hire them again!"

"Our home is 23 years old. I decided to have the bisque colored tile in our kitchen (counters, backsplash, island, butler pantry, and powder room) refurbished instead of installing granite. Much of the grout was missing, it was soft in many places and very dirty all over, almost black in some areas. Robert cleaned it all, replaced the grout on the counters and wherever else necessary, and then color sealed it to match the original tiles. It looks like new!!! I am very happy with the outcome. We also had the tile and grout in our bathrooms cleaned. Robert worked with us on the timing and the final amount was exactly what he had estimated. Robert did an excellent job. I would definitely recommend his services."

"Champion called asap and quoted me at appointment. I liked the business model and the years they have been in Ohio. I did not get any other quotes, so I am not sure how pricing was. Seemed high to me, but I was under weather constraints and ordered. Not installed yet. Looking like December."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

It’s not necessarily normal for tiles to lift, although it’s one of the common issues people may have with their tile flooring. Tiles correctly installed by pros with expansion joints should not lift over time. However, if the installation was done poorly, you might see tiles tenting or lifting as the house settles. This is more common in high-moisture areas with extreme temperatures.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.

The best types of tiles for a shower are ceramic and porcelain tiles. These materials are durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, making them ideal for wet environments. Porcelain tiles are slightly more durable than ceramic. Both options come in a wide variety of styles, so you can achieve the perfect look for your bathroom.
