"Matt recently did a metal roof on my house and shop, to replace the old, leaky, decrepit asphalt shingles...which I was having to patch pretty much every time it rained. When he came out for a quote, Matt was absolutely painstaking in his measurements (impressive...one of the reasons I went with him for my new roof). Matt provided three detailed quotes, with different options. Once we decided on a roof, he scheduled quickly. He and his crew showed up exactly when promised (early actually). Working from home that week, I was able to watch the process. Matt took the time to make sure everything was right. I had a few difficult valleys, and he was meticulous to ensure that everything would be watertight. All of the angles and lines are perfect. Matt is a craftsman, plain and simple. He and his crew take pride in their work, which is refreshing, this day and age. Last but certainly not least, Matt is courteous and professional at all times. He and his crew were a pleasure to work with. They left my house exactly the way they found it (only, with a great new roof)."

"From the very beginning, Scott Gunter, the Hixon Company Representative, came to our home well prepared and with plans for an outdoor screened porch and to have a new roof installed. Scott delivered as he said he would, on time, and the best workmanship we could afford. Once here, theHixon crew went right to work. They were on time, quick, but yet, efficient. We couldn't be more happy with the roof. We did install a quality roof with architectural shingles. It was done in two days. There were many, friendly and efficient workers, all here at the same time. They worked very hard and were relentless in their efforts to please my wife and me."

"The Quantum Roofing Team provided excellent service and advice to repair a badly damaged section of my Roof due to a fallen tree limb from a storm. They were able to source the exact shingles my roof has, and the repair team did a state-of-the-art repair including replacing the shattered OSB base boarding. I highly recommend Quantum Roofing for all roofing repairs."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Proposals, invoices, and estimates are most often used as marketing documents and are not legally binding. Contracts are legally binding documents that detail the service offering, project considerations, and signatures from all parties. If you signed a proposal for discussion purposes while requesting a quote and you decide to hire your roofer, make sure the contracting party follows through with a legally binding contract to protect both parties.

Generally, roof flashing is installed under the shingles to create a watertight seal and prevent moisture from seeping in and causing damage. However, the exact placement can depend on the type of flashing. For instance, with step flashing, the shingles and flashing overlap each other, meaning the flashing is technically both over and under the shingles. Flashing also typically goes beneath the house siding and is often not visible from the ground.

Yes, a tile roof will increase the value of your home more than an asphalt shingle roof. Not only do tile roofs look nicer and add more to your curb appeal, but buyers will understand that roof tiles last longer than most other materials, so they can expect minimal maintenance and a long roof lifespan after closing, which often means they’ll be willing to pay more for a home with this roof option.

No, you can’t use your home’s square footage. You have to calculate your roof’s square footage, and then you may have to convert your square footage measurement to correspond with how the roofing material is measured. For instance, some roofing is sold in “squares,” which equals the total square footage of the roof divided by 100. Shingles are sold in bundles that may not correspond to the number of squares you need. Metal roofing is sold as sheets, so determine the amount of square feet each panel will cover and then divide the total square footage by the coverage area.

Hail is unlikely to damage a tar and gravel roof because the hailstones will hit the protective gravel rather than your delicate roof membrane. A tar and gravel roof is the most resilient flat roof option, which means it’s the best one for areas that see hail, fallen tree debris, and blown debris from intense winds.
