"Mr. Wadford was and is very responsive to any query or request. He was always on time as was the installer. He was very patient and thorough in explaining the system operation and Bluetooth software. He insured that I understood everything and answered any and all questions. I have only had the system for a short time but it is performing perfectly. This project is to replace n old system. This new system cost $1500 less than the 20 year old system it replaced. The Wadford Water Works provides a quality system as well as quick, efficient and professional installation. I am thoroughly pleased with my decision with my choice to do business with Mr. Wadford."

"I found him off Craigslist, I didn't find him on Angie's List. He did his thing, he was on time, but I thought he was outrageously expensive for what he did. I didn't know it was Mister Sparky. I went on to Craigslist and they had this one ad that didn't identify who they were. They just said that they were super cheap and the lowest cost etc etc etc. I called them up and I set up an appointment and then Mister Sparky rolls in to the driveway. I had no experience with Mister Sparky. He is the on time electrician. He showed up, he wasn't in the house for more than 50 minutes. All he did really was, he took a wall socket and turned it upside down. I had the polarity upside down, I didn't know it, it was a dimmer switch, a really simple job that he knew and I didn't know it. It was knocking off some wall sockets and then he installed a ceiling light fixture for me that I couldn't do because I just needed three hands and I didn't have them. So, he had the experience. That was all he did. He really just did practically nothing and he charged me $180. It was like $200 an hour. I live in Mount Pleasant. Mount Pleasant is on the Carolina coast here, north of Charleston. It has a lot of people like myself who aren't native to the area. Mount Pleasant in here is perhaps the state's most affluent suburb. It's a very popular place because of its proximity to the downtown of Charleston, with all those attraction for dining etc. The rest of the population kind of lives elsewhere. My experience and I've been here eight years, there is like a Mount Pleasant price and there is a price for rest of the people, wherever they live. That's the problem that you have. You mention that you live in Mount Pleasant and all of a sudden the price is, "How much?" You just have to kind of grin and bear it and shop around. That's just the way it goes around here. They think everybody is rich who lives in here. I pulled them off Craigslist. They didn't identify themselves. They rolled in the driveway and I got a $200 bill, I was a little bit shocked. It was $200 an hour. I was expecting a little over $100 or something, not even that much for what he did. They were on time."

"The company does great work. I am please with the work. They worked fast and were very friendly. They will be installing more lights for me in the near future. The lights that I bought for him to install in the kitchen doesn’t light up the kitchen enough, so since I liked the design of light so much the owner suggested that i place the same exact light in another area of the kitchen. Great idea. He was hundreds dollars cheaper than other quotes that I received. They do wonderful work. I have already recommended him to my sister that needs electrical work."

"I had four electrical outlets that were not working. I scheduled an appointment with Tony from Trident Electric. He called me about an hour before my appointment to see if I was available so he could come early. I was, so he came right over. He immediately got to work troubleshooting my electrical problem. It was a complicated problem, because there was a disconnected or broken wire somewhere in the wall. However, he was able to fix the problem, and all of my electrical outlets are now working. Tony cleaned up after himself, and he is very courteous and knowledgeable. And this was all done for a very reasonable price! I will definitely call Trident Electric again for any electrical problems."

"R&W Electric was always polite and very professional. It is very nice to see good people with a great work ethic complete a job on task and on budget. We opened up our kitchen and needed to move switch locations, outlet locations, new circuits, ceiling fans and added under cabinet lights. I am glad we hired R&W Electric and would recommend them to anyone."
Removed switch and outlets on this wall
The original kitchen before cabinet demolition. We moved the hood and range outlet and changed the outlet locations for the countertop height outlets.
We changed the location of the outlets and added under-cabinet lighting
All the wiring was removed from this wall.
We have placed the switches and outlets just ready for tile.

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.

You can expect a diesel generator to last for up to 30,000 hours of use, which works out to 20 to 25 years with the proper maintenance, of course. That depends on how much you use it, so a diesel generator used for emergencies a couple of times a year will last a lot longer than a generator that takes over for a faulty electrical grid every month for a day or two.

Natural gas and electricity rates vary significantly based on location, and pricing can change over time, too. It’s possible that in locations where natural gas is particularly inexpensive, it will cost less than grid-based electricity will. However, you should also factor in the generator’s initial costs and maintenance needs, as well as its noise level and if it can comfortably power all your home appliances.

In most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home generators. A permit for a generator usually costs between $50 and $250, depending on where you live. Your electrician or certified generator installer will usually pull the permit for you—and might be required to do so by your building department—but you’ll be on the hook for the cost of the permit. You should ask your installer before agreeing to any work if they will pull the necessary permits for your project.

It might seem counterintuitive, but installing a generator transfer switch will save you money in the long run. While you’ll have to pay between $400 and $2,500 to have the transfer switch installed, you’ll recoup that amount later on when you don’t have to pay for expensive repairs to your appliances, devices, and electrical system that may have burned out, overloaded, or stopped working due to a sudden loss of power or an incorrect hook up of a generator to your home
