"Troy and Matt did a fantastic job framing and installing custom surround for a new fireplace and prepping for the install of a barn door on the guest bathroom. TJ did a good job gutting an office and prepping and painting. I would without a drought hire them again and actually have some projects for next spring"

"A+++!
We put our rental home on the market for sale and boy did it need a lot of work. We had moved out of the area years ago and needed a local painter who we could trust. Jimmy came through in spades. We ended up having the ENTIRE interior of the home repainted...including the baseboards, wall paper removal, and the garage. The tenants left the home in less than desirable condition. Jimmy and his crew returned it to its once beautiful condition. The home inspector who saw the before and after results was impressed and said he couldn't recognize the place.
This was a huge project and under a tight timeline. He worked with us as other projects were completed (carpet installation, etc). He even came in and accomplished some minor touch ups a few weeks after completion just prior to listing.
The result: the first family to view the home put in an offer and accepted!!
Two thumbs way up for Jimmy and Fresh Coat of Charleston!

"Williams Drywall was and excellent choice. I had many repairs from replacing the water pipes in a property and they did a fantastic job. The ceiling looks brand new after they were finished. They did a great job communicating throughout the process and were extremely professional. I would recommend them to anyone who needs drywall and/or painting. Excellent job!!!"

"Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, applying a texture can hide minor imperfections and irregularities in drywall, but it will not cover significant damage like nail marks or screw holes. The best texture depends on the size of the flaws. For minor imperfections, popular choices like orange peel, sand, or popcorn texture are effective. For larger imperfections, you may need a more prominent style, such as a knockdown or trowel finish, to conceal them effectively.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

It is possible to apply plaster on the interior or exterior of your home, but we don’t recommend it. Plaster is easy to apply in theory, but in reality, it can be a challenging material to work with, and it’s difficult to get the finished product to look clean, even, and smooth. Many DIYers end up calling in a professional afterward to touch up the area or even redo it entirely because of mistakes they made in the process. Hiring a plaster pro will cost more, but it’s usually the best option to achieve high-quality results.

Yes, you can put paneling over textured walls. Of course, this will come down to personal preference and the type of paneling you want to install. From board-and-batten to shiplap and wainscoting, there are plenty of options to choose from.
