Small jobs welcome

"Carolina Energy Conservation did such an amazing job from the very beginning, scheduling the estimate, to the estimate itself, explanation of project, benefits of crawl space encapsulation, installation and follow up. Without a doubt, the best home service experience we have ever had. Jay was our lead foreman, he was incredibly professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He called ahead to let us know he was thirty minutes out. Kevin and Tyler were our installers and were professional, efficient and really nice. They did such a fabulous job. Our expectations were far exceeded in the finished product. The price for quality was an amazing deal! We cannot recommend this company enough! Thank you!!!!"

"Scott is a very friendly and professional individual. He did all the work I needed and was very careful and neat. I felt bad about the 2 outdoor ceiling fans he had to install. It was 90 degrees but he did it. I have other work that needs to be done and I will be calling him for it.

"Chris called me right away after my post on Home Advisor and was very professional on the phone. I needed two ceiling lights changed in a cathedral ceiling. He was here in a couple days and even changed the ceiling fan on top of the two lights for me. He was so knowledgeable and professional. A nice person who takes pride in his work and cares about the customer. Good work ethics which you don’t see that often anymore. Will use and recommend this company to everyone! Prices were definitely fair for the amount of time it took. Also he is very articulate in the work he does. Thank you Chris! It was a pleasure doing business with you."

"Great company! Professional owner! Hardworking Crew! Excellent job! I contacted the company on Tuesday 2/15 and the owner was professional and ready to assist. I explained what I needed and he listened, offered suggestions, and gave me a great price. I signed my contract the following day. Bright and early this morning the crew arrived and got right to work. It took them approximately 6 hours and they did a lovely job. I recommend Floyd's roofing of the Carolinas to anyone and everyone that needs roofing installation or repairs and I look forward to doing business with them in the future."

Exhaust Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning, sealing ductwork, and ensuring proper airflow paths keep systems functioning optimally, maintaining energy efficiency.

Not all exhaust fans need venting, but most do. Bathroom fans and range hoods work best when vented outside to remove moisture, odors, and pollutants. Some ductless range hoods use filters instead, but they don’t remove air—just recirculate it. Proper venting ensures better air quality and efficiency.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

Costs range from $150 to $400, depending on fan type and labor.
