Because of limited funds, I had asked them to cut down only a few trees and limbs that were the most troublesome. But they did much more, clearing the whole area without extra charge. "After calling several tree removal/stump grinding businesses--one of them 3x, but they never returned any of my calls--Joseph, Elite Stump Grinding, called me. In this case, I guess, the 4th time was the charm. I explained the situation with an approximately 8.5" tree stump that needed to be removed. Based on my description, there were 2 options: 1) he could come and inspect the situation and then quote a price; or 2) he could give me a quote over the phone. There was no point in having him come 2x, so Joseph gave us a quote over the phone. The day we scheduled was the hottest day, with the humidex factor reaching 107 F. I was worried and called Joseph to note that I would be ok with changing to a different, cooler day. He assured me that he would be OK. In addition, I discovered that when I was removing dirt from around the stump, the root area was much more substantial than I had realized. As a result when he saw the situation, Joseph noted that it would take a little longer than he had expected. However, he did not advise us that he would have to charge more as a result of the additional work. He set up a protective barrier around the stump area, and got straight to work. Afterwards, he cleaned up and raked to provide a flat, even area. My husband and I are both very impressed with Joseph's superb work ethic, professionalism, and friendliness, and thankful that he went the extra mile. In fact, we gave him more than the quote to indicate our appreciation of these qualities, as well as the quality of the work he did.
