"DK Tree Service did an excellent job trimming my big maple tree. These guys are top notch professionals. They know trees, and they care about their clients. They even cleared out the gutters after trimming the branches for no extra cost. Gave a good price, did a great job, cleaned up, nothing but awesome! I highly recommend DK and I will be using them again."

"Jason is the kindest person to work with. He gives a really fair price consistently, the best price around honestly. He does the work well, he is responsive and humble. Please hire them if you're considering having tree work done. I recommend them to everyone. He knows his stuff and even has other contacts for further projects he will be glad to provide to you. We initially hired him as a company to have a tree removed by some powerlines, then hired him again to remove 7 more trees and trim others. I recently bought a house and plan on using him and his crew to assist with needs I have there as well! Please hire Jason for all your needs!!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Trees fell on my wooden fence. While talking to the owner Brenda, I asked if they could fix the fence also, which they did. As we talked, I realized they could do pretty much everything. We are getting ready to list our home and needed many things done (big and small). They saved me so much money because I would have had to hire different individuals to clean the chimney, fix fence, paint, etc. Everything they did was to perfection. Brenda cleaned my 28 year old deck and if you had a fork...you could have eaten off of it. It looked bran new. They patched a hole in my garage, built small steps out back door, power washed the house, cleaned out and fix gutters, filled in some cracks in porch and even tightened my shutters, and put new hinges on fence door. Not to mention the 3 huge trees they cut down and made woodchips of for us. Very reasonable and honest. She is there with the guys and they worked non stop. I cannot say enough about this company. This company was by far the best fix it company I have EVER hired."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

In Greenville, homeowners may encounter additional costs such as permit application fees, stump grinding, debris hauling, or charges for working near utility lines. If emergency tree removal is needed after a storm, extra fees may apply. To avoid surprises, ask your contractor to outline all potential services and confirm with the Greenville City Planning Department if any extra steps or permissions are required for your project.

Helpful?

In Greenville, a tree removal permit is generally required for removing trees over 6 inches in diameter on private property, and special approval is needed for heritage trees, which are typically over 24 inches. The Greenville City Planning Department oversees these permits. If your tree is near a public right-of-way or within a designated historic district, additional permissions may be necessary. Always confirm requirements with the Greenville City Planning Department before starting work.

Helpful?

In Greenville, reputable tree service contractors follow OSHA safety standards, use certified climbing gear, and conduct a site assessment for hazards like power lines. Homeowners should keep a safe distance from the work area and never attempt large removals themselves. Always verify that your contractor carries both liability and workers' compensation insurance, and check with Greenville's Public Works Department for any neighborhood-specific safety guidelines.

Helpful?

Greenville homeowners can choose from certified arborists, tree removal specialists, landscaping companies, and storm damage response teams. For expert care, look for contractors with International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification and proper insurance. Ask for references from local projects and confirm that the contractor is familiar with Greenville's specific tree ordinances, as required by the Greenville City Planning Department.

Helpful?

In Greenville, frequent mistakes include hiring unlicensed contractors, neglecting to obtain necessary permits, and attempting DIY removal of large trees. Over-pruning, topping trees, or damaging root zones during construction can harm tree health. Consulting a certified arborist and checking with the Greenville City Planning Department before starting work helps prevent costly errors and ensures your trees remain healthy and safe.
