"I felt like Thomas Potts did a great job grinding the stumps of two trees that had recently been cut down. He was friendly, professional, and timely. Mr. Potts communicated well prior to arriving so we knew when precisely when he would arrive, etc. The job was done efficiently and Mr. Potts chhecked on several occasions to make sure we were happy with the results along the way. The price was also very reasonable for the work done. I wouls defintely hire him again if needed."

"Project: Remove a LARGE tree leaning far over and endangering a neighbors home. I usually request 3 quotes before hiring anyone for my projects. In this case, 1st couldn't quote because the tree required someone to actually climb the tree to start the cutting (bucket couldn't reach) and they didn't provide that service. the 2nd couldn't start until the beginning of 2022, the 3rd wanted $3000.00 + (Yikes!) and could start "in a week or so". So, I called a 4th (Royal Park Property Maint.) Bingo! Price was right, started the next day at 9:15 a.m. and were done by 11:00 a,m, No sign they had even been there. Tree, debris, equipment, & workers gone!!! PLUS, Jose (owner) noticed the vines choking my beautiful trees surrounding my home and included cutting the vines at the base of all of them, thereby eliminating the food supply to the existing vines. I didn't have to ask, didn't have to pay extra. I'm a happy customer - have a very relieved neighbor & happy remaining trees! Would I recommend? Absolutely (already have). Would I use their service again when needed? In a hot minute!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

Your local government is usually in charge of pruning trees on public property, and the power company is responsible for trees near power lines (even if they’re on your property). Whether or not they top these trees depends on their approach to pruning. You won’t be able to do much to control this, but you can contact them to find out more about their pruning process.

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.

Whether you should remove the roots of a dead tree depends on whether they’re damaging nearby areas. For instance, if the roots continue to grow near sidewalks, driveways, or the foundation of your home, they can cause damage. If you want to plant something else in that spot, removing the roots can make it easier for the new tree or plant to grow.
