"S W Contractors did a great job of replacing our bathroom floor tile. Steve was very good , knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The pricing was very reasonable, and ability to get the job done in a timely manner. The installers did an awesome job. They were always aware of keeping the area clean. I would highly recommend S W Contractors for any flooring need."

"Footprint floors has been a pleasure to work with. They are quick to reply and kept me very well informed throughout the entire process. Their install crew did a beautiful job and went the extra mile when they discovered a need for an unknown step in the process that would create a lot of dust. The install pro did everything he could to minimize the mess and was clear in communicating with us every step of the way. We will certainly be using footprint in the future!"

"We originally had our carpet installed by Empire Today. After a few years the carpet started to wrinkle. It took months to get Empire to have someone come out and stretch the carpet areas that had wrinkles. After the agony of getting Empire out to fix their poor workmanship, I call All Points Carpet to see what it would cost to have a real professional fix our wrinkles. When they came out to give us and estimate , they found other rooms that were also wrinkled, and needed to be fixed. The estimate was unbelievably low for the improvement in the carpet. They came back with a crew, moved furniture, and stretched out all of the wrinkles. They were one of the best companies I have ever dealt with, and I highly recommend All Points Carpet Care."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The best paints for shower tiles include epoxy, latex, or acrylic. Ideally, you should look for paints that are waterproof and mildew-resistant if you plan to paint shower or other bathroom tiles. You can even find waterproof paints made specifically for tiled surfaces, which will be the best option for shower tile paint that lasts as long as possible.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.
