"For my home in Ladson, SC: Answered and returned calls promptly. They spent the full day on the whole property. Their thorough knowledge between weeds and garden plants gave me peace of mind for the beautiful job they did on the areas that needed that knowledge. Hunter, the owner, was punctual and took the time to walk around getting everything I wanted and needed on his list. He even had great ideas of his own that I agreed to. Had the estimate by the next day and the work was accomplished on the next business day. Highly recommend and I will call him for any future work needed."

"I never write reviews because most people just give average service and I see no point in writing a review just to describe an average experience. These guys went above and beyond and did not ask me to write this, I'm writing this only because the great work they did made me happy. They removed 2 large trees and some small bushes. I had 4 companies give estimates for the job. Stump Stompers sent a professional estimator out the day after I called them. The other three services took a week to even give an estimate, if they even bothered. I called them several times before I finally agreed to the contract. Every time I either reached somebody or they called me back promptly, even if I didn't leave a message. Most contractors around here you have to call repeatedly and leave multiple messages. When I signed the contract, they told me 2 weeks and they were out here in two weeks. The other contractors were booking 6 weeks out and who knows when they will show up. And the cherry on top was they were the lowest bid. When they came out to do the work, I asked them to remove 3 large bushes that I hadn't included in the original contract. The owner, who actually does tree work himself along with his crew, gave me a great price for the additional work. I asked them to chop up some of the wood into firewood sized logs and they did it for free. They probably spent an hour cleaning up after the job and my driveway is cleaner then before they came. Do not hesitate to hire these guys!"

"I had the pleasure of working with Evan from Hard Work Tree Service for a magnolia tree that had rotted at the base. From the very first phone call from him, I knew he was the one for the job. He was very well mannered and so nice. He came out to my property promptly and I met him at the door. Right away he made friends with my puppy and pet bird. I felt very comfortable. We went around back to where the sick tree was. He gave me a very fair quote and scheduled me for an appointment a few days later. The day of the tree removal he was right on time. He arrived with all the tools needed to do the job. The tree was cut down with professionalism and courtesy. I am so happy that I made the choice to hire Hard Work tree service. Their name says it all. I highly recommend them if you have a tree that needs trimmed or removed. I don't have a before picture but I will add the after picture. I chose to get it cut down to the stump rather than opting for stump grinding. Thanks again, Evan!!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Their foreman Steven showed up on time and gave me a very decent quote for what I needed (tree trimming, fallen limb removal, and dead tree removal). I went ahead and hired them. Steven and his team showed up on time for the service date, but a storm rolled in while they were working. They left due to lightning, but the front desk , Ellen, called me to let me know they would return to finish later that week. They returned on time too, and finished the job. They even left me 2 bags of potting soil to cover tracks in the shared yard I have with my neighbor after my neighbor requested it. Steven and Ellen were always very professional and courteous, and Ellen was prompt with communication. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

"My small yard is a real beast that’s been largely neglected over the last few years for various reasons, especially the places you can’t really see from the street. The most serious issue, though, was the live oak leaves/branches that had accumulated on the roof and in gutters. In the past I would usually would attack this myself, but I’m starting not to feel comfortable getting on the roof any longer. I had to break down and try to find someone to do it for me. This is the first time I’ve used Dee and I was very impressed with his response time and wonderful communication. He contacted me within minutes of my initial web inquiry. He was able to get to me very quickly to evaluate and they did the work just a few days after that and then sent me pictures of what they had done before they left. I will definitely be using his service going forward."

"I had a difficult dead tree to remove in a space that was challenging. Kenny and Andrew arrived on time. The top 20 feet of my tree was rotted and they were able to top it safely to the ground after using proper engineering techniques. Andrew was the climber and handled all the unexpected problems that came up. He is a certified Arborist and really made the difficult job go easy. Kenny worked the ground ropes very safely and professionally. Kenny was the eyes on the ground and made sure the job ran smoothly. Both men are military veterans and they made sure everything was cleaned up to my satisfaction. I highly recommend Carolina Tree Trimmers for any tree related problems that customers might have. These two are the best in the business."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

It depends on where you live—but in most areas, leaves begin falling in September and continue falling until January or February. Warmer regions, such as Southern states, may see leaves fall a bit later in the calendar year. It also depends on the type of trees in your yard and their maturity.

The amount of time it takes for a tree trunk to rot depends on several factors, including the tree’s size, species, and environmental conditions. It can take anywhere from a few years to several decades for a tree’s trunk to rot. A tree stump, on the other hand, can take up to 10 years to disappear after it’s decayed naturally.

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

Aim to have your trees inspected and pruned in early spring. At this point in the year, tree service professionals can note where there is old growth from winter and cut that back to encourage new growth for the rest of the year. Pruning at the wrong time of the year could make your trees prone to diseases.
