Tree Men

There was some crepe murdering done (stump cutting limbs) when I had expressly asked that not to happen. Also poor communication between the foreman and the crew. We asked to have the trees cut in lengths for the fireplace and not just chip them. Only about a quarter of the trees where handled as we requested. It was an incomplete job and messy. Otherwise the job was done safely.

We called James based on a neighbor's recommendation and the great reviews on Angie's List.  He responded promptly and spent time walking our property discussing the work we wanted done.  His initial quote was more than double what we had paid to have our trees trimmed 3 years ago, but we negotiated a better price (although still substantially higher).  However, we felt confident that we would get a good job.
His team showed up on the appointed day, although without their tools, which were on another truck.  They left about an hour later without speaking with us - I suppose it was because there was rain in the forecast.  They returned the next day and work began according to plan, with the men using hand tools to trim the parts of the tree closest to the house. About 3 hours into the job, I noticed that they had driven their truck into our yard and were using a bucket lift and chainsaw and cutting the grand live oak rather aggressively, despite the fact that James had said they would do neither of these things (in fact, I have a voice mail recording from him saying the chainsaw would not be used for trimming the live oak, other than for the removal of one dead limb).  Then the man in the boom basket moved to the palmettos, and started cutting live palm fronds to 3 to 6 feet above the dead ones we had agreed to cut.
 
At that point, we stopped the job, called James, and told him we were done.  He came over to the house promptly, and when we explained to him that the job was not being performed according to our agreement, both he and one of his men kept telling us why what they were doing was right (despite the fact that it was not as agreed).  Despite our unhappiness, we paid him in full for the work done on the live oak, but paid nothing for the palmettos.  We cancelled the other $2200 of work that was to have been done.  All of the debris was cleaned up promptly and completely.

A very large mimosa began to ooze a white foamy liquid from its trunk and limbs.  This tree was very close to the house and had many limbs that were hanging over the roof.  It seemed like it had happened suddenly and I became concerned that the tree could fall and collapse on the house.  James responded very quickly to my call and was able to give me an estimate the same day (maybe the next day?).  He examined the tree and gave me an estimate.  He did not think that he would be able to remove the tree for several weeks because of other commitments but assured me the tree, while it needed to come down,  wasn't going to fall over.
That was on the Sept 18.  Yesterday morning, he called to say that they would be able to come that afternoon.  About an hour later 4 men showed up and in less than 2 hours had removed the tree and all the debris.  They were very polite and professional. 
I gave the Price category an A because it was exactly what was estimated.  I did not get different estimates so I really had nothing to compare it to, but despite Jame's assurance that it would not fall over, the sap oozing was getting worse, the odor was unpleasant and the number of bees and bugs that were feasting on it made the patio and surrounding area impossible to use.
Definitely would use him again.

A very extensive job, done very well.  It looked a bit bare at the time because of how overgrown the property was but here it is 15 months later and their judgement was exactly right.  A good job with good attention to detail and a very hardworking crew.  Also had a good referral for stump removal which they did not do themselves.
Also had the opportunity to watch them trim a huge live oak adjoining my property...watched very carefully because a house was going up on the property close to the tree.  I thought they handled it very well and did a good job of keeping the tree's natural appearance and not thinning too much.

Once requested, we had a prompt estimate and prompt, professional service. The team members were very efficient, hard working, and responsive to directions. They clearly wanted to please the customer. They removed all of the cut limbs and logs and left the place neat and clean. We got there name from a neighbor, and I would definitely recommend them to others for jobs large and small.

Arrived promptly is the good;butchered a cypress tree; all branches, limbs etc were cut and allowed to fall and stay wherever they landed damaging plants below; wonder how one can be an arborist and not know the names of trees?? We had placed pots and yard ornaments under a tree that was not supposed to be trimmed but they trimmed it at our neighbors request.

First class; very professional.

Workers were always on time, courteous and ready to go and did the job and did a great clean up after. As close to a perfect job as I have ever had. Would use again in a heartbeat!

James first came out and gave us a quote on the work.  We thought it was an extremely fair price for the amount of work he would be doing.  He took the time to answer all of my questions - and as a first time homeowner, I had a lot of them.  That evening we gave James a call and told him we were going to hire Tree Men to do the work and a few days later they came out. 
I pulled into my driveway after work on Friday and the only sign that they had even been there was that the tree we wanted removed was no longer there and our yard looked fantastic.  They cleaned up absolutely every peice of debris and were extremely careful around the other plantings in our yard. 
They safely removed the large sweet gum that was over our house, removed the limbs that we had asked them to remove from two other trees (another sweet gum and a live oak) and even removed a few other small dead limbs that they saw as they worked.  Our large live oak is now safe and looks beautiful.
Later that afternoon James called and stopped by again to make sure we were happy with the work.  He walked around the yard with me and pointed out where they worked and took time to answer my questions again.
We will absolutely be using this company for any other tree work we need in the future.

Prompt, courteous response to first call.  Performed job on scheduled date with removal etc.  I contacted company just recently about a large stump that I understood would also be removed and the response was immediate, and being taken care of in 2 days and no additional charge.
I would highly recommend this company for all your tree/yard/needs. And would use them again.  My friends also have used their service and are extremely pleased as well, with efficiency, cost, and a well performed service.

James was obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about his work!  He pointed out a number of problems and recommended options.  His crew had to climb a big water oak tree to remove a dying limb that extended over three stories up (they couldn't bring in a cherry picker due to location).  They removed two other trees and trimmed several others, and brought all growth back from our house.  All in all, very professional.  I'm giving him a "B" for price, but they had an entire crew out for the entire day.

The worker was very professional and experienced. He was able to drop the limbs between my house and the neighbor's house without hitting the fence or houses. He was talented. He did a good job. He was respectful of property and time. They were about half the price of other companies.
