"John gave me an estimate over the summer after letting me know his schedule wasn't open until fall. After looking at the sagging plaster ceilings in our 1920s house, he recommended covering with drywall, and he did the work in December. John and his colleague did two ceilings in 4 days (about 700 square feet total) and they are a huge improvement. We're already planning to hire him again!"

"I asked for many quotes on home advisor for my very small job. I’ve learned that given my small house small jobs are both expensive and hard to get quality people to even consider them. Kyle not only called right away but also offered to come look at my project the same day within an hour. He did an amazing job repairing my drywall which I honestly thought I would need to replace it was so damaged from tile and oven hood removal. He was professional, on time, respectful, and cleaned up to a degree I have not had an experience with in the past with other contractors. I would highly recommend him!"

"Project: Drywall/Sheetrock Plastering Company: NE Plastering and Painting We hired NE Plastering and Painting to handle drywall and sheetrock plastering work in three separate areas of our home. Overall, we were very pleased with the experience from start to finish. The crew, led by foreman Nelson Hernandez, arrived on time, and they took great care to protect the surrounding areas — floors, furniture, and adjacent walls — before starting work. Their attention to detail during the job was clear, and the finished plastering came out smooth and professionally done across all three areas. We also obtained a few quotes before choosing this company, and their pricing was the most competitive, without sacrificing quality. Based on the professionalism, quality of work, and value, we'd absolutely hire NE Plastering and Painting again for future drywall or plastering projects, and we'd recommend them to anyone in need of this kind of work."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A post-drywall inspection could uncover many problems that weren’t present during the pre-drywall inspection, including insufficient insulation, missing weather stripping, improperly installed plumbing and lighting fixtures, flooring damage, drywall damage, plumbing leaks, aesthetic issues, and more. Structural problems, which are often expensive to fix and are common reasons to walk away after a home inspection, are easier to see before the drywall goes up, but a post-drywall inspection may highlight minor issues with house settling and foundation problems.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.

When doing a DIY paint job, it can be tricky to achieve the perfect, straight line between your wall and ceiling. There are several methods, including lining it with painter’s tape and using the “cut in” brush tactic. Some homeowners choose to apply a thin line of caulk to the wall-ceiling seam to create the appearance of a perfect line.

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.

Very little. One inch of water can stain walls, warp wood, and create a perfect environment for mold growth. One to two inches of water can do significant damage to drywall, insulation, and electrical systems. Anything over that is considered an extensive flood, often resulting in severe structural damage.
