"John gave me an estimate over the summer after letting me know his schedule wasn't open until fall. After looking at the sagging plaster ceilings in our 1920s house, he recommended covering with drywall, and he did the work in December. John and his colleague did two ceilings in 4 days (about 700 square feet total) and they are a huge improvement. We're already planning to hire him again!"

"I asked for many quotes on home advisor for my very small job. I’ve learned that given my small house small jobs are both expensive and hard to get quality people to even consider them. Kyle not only called right away but also offered to come look at my project the same day within an hour. He did an amazing job repairing my drywall which I honestly thought I would need to replace it was so damaged from tile and oven hood removal. He was professional, on time, respectful, and cleaned up to a degree I have not had an experience with in the past with other contractors. I would highly recommend him!"

"Nestaly and Edwin did a great job replacing an exterior wooden staircase and metal railing system with a Trex solution that is both beautiful and solid as a rock. They were here at 8 AM both days and cleaned the debris up afterward. Wonderful people and company to have working with me on this project. It is more difficult to drywall a ceiling than it is to drywall a wall, but not so hard that DIYers can’t tackle it. One of the main issues with hanging drywall on your ceiling is getting it into place. Drywall isn’t light so, if you are hanging full drywall panels, you will need at least two (it’s better with more) people to hold the panel while you drill it into the ceiling as a single piece can weigh between 40 and 60 pounds and will need to be held in place for up to 10 minutes.

If your home’s foundation shifts slightly over time, any seams in the drywall represent the weakest point in the wall, leading to cracks. If your home has significant changes in temperature and humidity, this can cause the drywall to swell and contract slightly, causing a crack at the weak point of the seam. If your drywall installer did a poor job securing the panels to the wall studs, this could cause a weak layout and cracks in the seams.

Drywall mudding can be done in one day if the project is small and the desired effect isn’t too complex. If you need multiple layers of mud, one day may not be realistic. But a single room that requires little more than joint compound on the seams and screws can be done in a day or two.

Damp plaster does dry out, although the drying time depends on several factors, including the type of plaster, the surrounding temperature, moisture content, and the extent of the dampness. Sometimes, it can take weeks or months for wall plaster to dry naturally.

It doesn’t matter which way you lay drywall, and you can choose to install it horizontally or vertically depending on the size of the wall and how tall the ceiling is. It’s easier to lay drywall sheets vertically if you have a taller ceiling, but laying sheets horizontally makes it easier to apply joint compound.
