"On 10.23.23 I hired Shamrock Chimney, address, 3 Mountain St. E, Worcester, MA, 01606, telephone: 508.433.0609, to clean my chimney; upon inspection of the chimney, I was told that the cement crown was damaged and needed replacement, as well as resetting loose bricks at the top of the chimney. The total cost for this work was $1,500.00. This work came with a Lifetime warranty on the 2 steel rain caps, and a 5-year warranty on the masonry. On Feb. 10, 2024, I called Shamrock Chimney and told them that the caps were moving out of place on top of the chimney, tilting as they might be ready to fall off. I told Shamrock's representative that I was fearful that the caps could fall down damaging my roof and cars, or injuring someone walking into my house on the walkway below. Shamrock told me that someone would be out to ensure that the caps were properly secured - however no one from Shamrock came out. "I called Horizon after moving into a new home in Medway and having no idea what condition the chimney was in. They sent a team out the same day! The guys were great - very friendly and professional. They looked everything over, informed us that one chimney needed to be cleaned but the other did not, and some of the brick work was loose on the fireplace floor. I also requested a chimney cap and they suggested strengthening part of the chimney before installing. They provided an estimate within 24 hours and came out about a week later to do the work. Again, they were completely professional, pleasant and somehow despite cleaning the chimney and doing masonry work, did not create any dust or mess in the house. I was so pleased that I asked them to put us on a yearly schedule for routine cleaning. I highly recommend!"

Needless to say, he never attempted to do the project. I confronted him via text message in October that I wanted my deposit back. He apologized stating that he had to fire a bunch of people (sound familiar to anyone?) and had run into some personal problems. He promised to refund my deposit. When he failed to keep his commitment, I notified him that I was going to file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office, he did not bother to respond. I filed the complaint. I hired him because he had 5 stars on Angie. I don't understand how this rating was possible. I strongly advise seeking a different contractor."
