"When I called Masters Carpet Care I got an appointment right away along with an explanation of what they would do. They were friendly, professional, and respectful. They cleaned my stairs and floor carpeting which was pet stained. The amount of dirt they removed was shocking. The price was absolutely reasonable and I definitely plan on using them again. I highly recommend Masters Carpet Care!"

"I'm extremely pleased with the services provided by Vinnie and Alex at All Star. I went with them because they were quick to return my emails, and offered a price significantly lower than competitors. They arrived exactly when they said they'd be there, and even called beforehand to let me know their whereabouts. They were very friendly and respectful of my house. They even sang with my kids:) I'd highly recommend."

"I have an aging cat who no longer uses the litter box in the basement. My floor cleaning was in effectual and the urine smell was bad. Martin Tay and his team did an unbelievable job. They spent almost 2 hours soaping and mopping the floor, using hot water and repeatedly changing the water. Martin and I met on Wednesday and he and his men came the very next day. He explained what a thorough and clean job he would do and that's exactly what he did. It's money well spent for someone who works so hard and does a beautiful job."

"(We were a bit hesitant to hire another cleaning service after we had a nightmarish experience with the last cleaning service, J & M Pro Cleaning, that we hired through Angie's List. Our review was accurate but the reply to our review, left by J & M Pro Cleaning, led me to believe they must be talking about a completely different house! Never again!) However, A Star Quality Cleaning Company, LLC is AMAZING!! Our experience with Tracy was fantastic and we went on to book ongoing cleanings with this company. Scheduling was done via email and was super easy. The company went out of their way to accommodate us and Lynn was very nice re. the scheduling, etc. The cleaner, Tracy, was more than we could have hoped for! She accomplished more in two hours than the entire 3 person team from J & M did in FOUR hours! Tracy was friendly and professional. Her work ethic was enviable. She was willing to forego part of her break in order to clean my kitchen floor, because it exceeded the 2 hour time we had booked. I did not allow her to do this but she was more than willing. I couldn't be happier with Tracy and with this cleaning service. I wish we had contacted them first! I will recommend them to family and friends for sure. No one should look any further than this company if you want AWESOME service at a VERY reasonable cost. VERY HAPPY!!!!"

Floor Polishers questions, answered by experts

Most DIY floor cleaners don’t require rinsing, but you’ll want to make sure you don’t add too much dish soap or oil to the cleaner to avoid having to rinse it after cleaning. For non-wood floors, mix 8 parts warm water, 1 part vinegar, and 1 part baking soda with a few drops of dish soap. For wood floors, use olive oil in that same mixture instead of the vinegar. You can let these solutions air-dry after cleaning your floors with them, although you should manually dry your floors if they aren’t waterproof.

If you have waxed floors or floors with a penetrating stain or oil, you can shine them up with some more wax and a cloth or floor buffer. After cleaning the floor thoroughly, apply wax to the floor in small sections and use a clean, dry cloth or towel to buff it until it shines. You can also use an electric polisher, which is especially handy for large floors.

Yes, many services offer waxing as part of the polishing process. Confirm with your provider.

If you’re looking for commercial cleaners, just check the label to find options that say they are safe for vinyl. Otherwise, homemade cleaners work great for vinyl plank flooring. Baking soda paste works well for spot-cleaning, and vinegar mixed with water is best for all-over cleaning. You can even clean your floors with plain water, which is great for everyday maintenance.

Dust mops are the best option for tackling dirt and dust on marble floors. Vacuums aren’t a good idea as the brushes and beater rolls can scratch and damage your marble floors. If you must use a vacuum, make sure your vacuum has a setting for hard floors, and take care not to apply too much pressure when rolling the vacuum across your marble floor.
