"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. There was a deadline for installing this part before tenants arrive. They did not care, would not m"

"Todd just finished installing a rustic slate shower with a claw foot tub and a vanity in my bathroom. Todd was excellent about handling the idiosyncrasies of an older house. And the tile work he did was amazing. He did the project on schedule, for the estimated cost, and did a masterful job. He was friendly, easy to work with, and had good ideas about how to design things and about how to work around space limitations. He didn’t try to push me toward new-fangled crap that would be easy to install, he was enthusiastic about working with genuine, quality materials. My home is a beautiful, 200-year-old, solidly-built stone house. I wanted a bathroom with the level of quality, beauty, and care that was put into building this house two centuries ago. Todd delivered. He really is a master craftsman."

Keiser's Plumbing and Heating has been serving Union County for over 30 years and continue to provide quality work at a reasonable price. We demand expertise from our employees and set the standard for what customer service should be!

"They came out to replace our septic pump. I was told/promised they would come back when the weather was better to properly seat my pump to the pedestal for the final proper installation. I have left 4 voice mails at there office office over the last 2 weeks without a return call, I have emailed them without any response and I have called the emergency cell phone 6 times in which they hang up when they see the caller ID. When my son calls they don't hang up. No I need to find another Plumber and pay them for the work I already paid for. BEWARE! Don't let them leave without completing the job otherwise you will end up like me! Very said that a persons word is not worth anything anymore. I would avoid this company at all cost. Shame on you for taking peoples money with preforming the service they paid for!"

"Beyond Disappointed. A and S Mechanical came to our house to fix our furnace. After three trips to our house spanning nearly a month, the water from our furnace was still not hooked up. On the third trip, nearly three hours was spent cutting and re-soldering the same pipe, which was ultimately never completed without leaks. On the fourth time, a different technician undid the mess the first employee did, and finally finished our furnace. In the month that it took to finish our furnace, we had three water leaks, one of which was in a finished room in our basement. Additionally, we needed to call A and S an evening after the technician left to get direction on how to turn our water back on because the technician had turned the water off at an unknown location and failed to turn it back on. With that nightmare behind us, we figured talking to the owner(s) would give us some satisfaction; but we were wrong again. We asked the owner to call us after the fourth trip, which they never did. I called to speak to the owner, who was unavailable, but assured they would call me back. No one ever did, however, we got an incredible bill in the mail for a greater amount of time than the technician was even at our house. The owner was called again, but was not in. She conveniently called at the end of business, so when we returned her phone call 15 minutes later, the office was closed. We called the next business day, to which we were told again she would call back, but she did not. Calling A and S again near the end of business that same day prompted one of the owners to finally call us back. She discussed the issues with us and advised she would review everything and call me back. Of course she didn’t, and we instead just received another bill in the mail. She was happy to suggest sending their most experienced technician to look at our furnace, to try to get more money from us, but we declined. To be clear, we hired A and S Mechanical to fix our furnace, which took four trips, the last two of which were to just clean up the mess from the first two visits. We were charged for the labor to undue their own messes. We had three water leaks, one of which was discovered by walking down to our basement and hearing the water gushing down the wall and pooling on the floor. After all this, the customer service was even worse than the damage done by the employees. We are thankful they didn’t do more damage to our home."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

If you're replacing a broken water heater, now is a great time to make sure you're selecting a unit that has the right capacity for your household. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a small 50-gallon to 60-gallon tank is sufficient for households with one to three people. A medium-sized 80-gallon tank is considered ideal for three to four people. A larger tank may be needed if your household has four to six people.

One of the primary benefits of a heat pump water heater is how cost-effective it is. How much you save will depend on your water usage and electricity costs. That being said, we can ballpark savings for the average home of between $100 and $500 per year. You can increase that savings rate by researching and applying available energy incentives available in your area. If you really want to focus on cost, consider a tankless water heater.

If you are having trouble determining the right breaker size for your water heater, it is a great idea to contact an electrician near you to help. They can help you determine the best option for your home and install the circuit breaker for you, ensuring that you have all the proper permits and that your circuit breaker won’t overload, which could lead to fire and other damage.

How long a water heater lasts depends on the type. A conventional tanked water heater has an average lifespan of eight to 12 years. Tankless models typically last a little longer, anywhere from 10 to 15 years. Regular maintenance can help you extend the life of your water heater and keep operating costs in check.

Water heaters seldom ever burst, but when they do, you should know the warning signs to protect your home. The biggest sign that your water heater is about to burst is a sulfuric smell. If your home inexplicably smells like rotten eggs, then this could be an indication of a gas leak in your gas water heater. If gas leaks out of the unit, it could ignite and cause an explosion, so you should immediately shut off the gas and call a plumber near you to inspect your water heater.
