"Consistent with every other time I've engaged with Andy and Ross from Paradigm, they were on-time, prepared for the job, very professional, courteous, and diligent to perform above and beyond. I needed help with a last minute problem with our toilet and these guys took time out of their otherwise busy schedule to squeeze me in. These guys truly understand the value of exceptional service and building long-term relationships. Never a lame excuse or a corner cut. After my first project with them (a $12K french drain), I didn't really expect to call on them for other stuff around the house, but I did turn to them for another $8000 mold/moisture remediation. I'm so glad I found them as they are simply a great asset to any homeowner needing quality and timely service. This was probably a really small job for them, but they handled it for me no questions asked...thanks guys!!"

"Fast, almost immediate, response to my Project request for bid. Had a ceiling/wall water leak in my downstairs bathroom that they were able to diagnose and resolve within 24 hrs. Very professional, polite, and clean crew who came out the next morning as per my urgent need and was able to identify my upstairs toilet seal as the culprit and resolved. Did a great job cleaning up after themselves as well and I'd look to them again for future projects."

"It was great! Steve A & Steve did a fantastic job. They are very thorough making sure everything is working properly once they finish the installations. They took the old sinks and toilet with them along with all the cardboard boxes, etc. They recommended a water pressure regulator because my pressure coming into the house was too high. I agreed and they installed it. All the work was done in 1 day. Their work is A+++."

"Zoom was out quickly to address the situation, however felt the septic system should be drained first rather than spending money to investigate the issue if it turned out to be the tank. I readily agreed. After the tank was cleaned, I called again and they were out the same day, early in fact. I had them do the jet procedure rather than the snake since it hadn't been done in the twenty years I lived here. That came with a scoping. The drain was cleared and he found a break at the wye that needed to be addressed. He used a different device to plant a flag for the pipeline repair people to fix the problem. I negotiated the cost with the fellow that came out to estimate the job after doing the excavation to the pipe myself. The flagged point was exactly where the break was. The prices was reasonable and I had them do the job. We arranged for the team to come out in late afternoon and I got a call that they could be there even earlier. Back in business and very thankful."

"Marquis was amazing! He was professional and knowledgeable. The service is a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth it. Someone else did an inspection and recommended replacing the sewage pipe. But I wasn't sure that was accurate. In comes Zoom. They had every piece of equipment necessary for the job, which is part of the service fees, which I'm happy to pay for. In the end, they were clogging issues. He jetted the line and removed the clogs. It was a lot less expensive than replacing the line. He told me we will eventually need to replace it, but we'll know based on the plumbing symptoms. Thanks, Zoom - especially Marquis!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

On average, it costs between $150 and $300 to fix a toilet that’s leaking at the base, including supply charges. If the flange is intact, the cost is between $150 to $200. If the flange needs to be replaced, you can expect an extra $50 or so. The actual price will depend on the hourly rate your plumber charges.

Yes, you should screw your flange to the subfloor, including cement. The best way to get this done is to predrill holes into the concrete using a hammer drill and a ¼-inch concrete bit. Be careful when you’re ready to bolt your flange down, as you can accidentally crack it. You can avoid this issue by not installing the screws too deep. Or, you can opt for a flange with a stainless steel ring so you don’t have to worry about cracking the plastic.

While gasket-sealed PVC flanges are the type most commonly found in homes, flanges come in a range of different materials, including copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum, that pros sometimes secure with glue. If this is the case in your bathroom, the replacement is a job better left to the pros.

Even though they’re modern-looking, easier to clean, can be hung at any height, and help save space compared to traditional toilets, wall-hung toilets have some downsides. They’re more expensive than standard toilets, sometimes by a few hundred dollars. They’re also difficult to install and may require major plumbing work to reroute the drain if the previous toilet was a floor-mount model.

This tight fit can make repairs more difficult. You’ll also have to consider where you can hang them and weight limit restrictions, so they may not be the best fit for every home.

Snaking a toilet is similar to clearing sinks and bathtubs, but there are unique circumstances where you’d have to drain, disassemble, and remove the toilet to fix the clog. For stubborn clogs in the toilet trap, a toilet auger—designed with a shorter cable and a protective plastic encasing—can navigate the tight bends and clear the clog without risking damage to the porcelain.
