"Jim, his son and daughter work like a fine-tuned team. They did an awesome job installing our ceramic tile flooring in our powder room and relocating the main light fixture. I am looking forward to them completing the refacing of our old dark kitchen cabinets and installing the new flooring in our laundry room. Very reasonable prices and fantastic workmanship. I highly recommend them. Tony, Harmony, PA"

"Sky Wood and Tile excellent. Luis and his crew are fine craftsmen and show a dedication in their work. They completed a new tile floor install (850 square feet) and I was so impressed I also asked them to tile a new bathroom as well. Their price was reasonable, they completed the work on time and cleaned up after the work was completed. They come highly recommended."

"McCann Home Improvements just completed a large, multi-part project for us: a complete overhaul of an unfinished basement, which involved creating a laundry room, tv/stereo area, and a powder room. The second part of the project was a ‘down to the studs’ remake of a full bathroom. We are absolutely thrilled at the quality of the work, as well as the aesthetics. The basement itself was a disaster— cinder block walls, crumbling old floor tiles, old pipes criss-crossing the ceiling, etc. The ceiling is now properly finished, pipes fully boxed in, with clean lines and open spaces. This was no mere ‘drop-ceiling’ job, but one that required imagination and a host of technical workarounds. The upstairs bath now has a marble lined shower-stall, beautiful porcelain tile on floor and walls, and what was once a tiny space somehow magically appears open, beautiful and luxurious. Anthony McCann, the owner and manager, oversaw all of the project, down to the smallest of details. He was quickly able to put together a plan for us, at a more than reasonable cost. And he delivered on every commitment made, with everything spelled out in a contract to forestall any possible misunderstandings. Anthony himself is extremely affable, committed to doing high-quality work, and a genuine mensch. His crew are likewise easy to get along with, hard-working, respectful of our space and time, and like Anthony, always strove to complete the highest quality work. We are extremely happy with all of the work done for us, would highly recommend McCann to anyone seeking large or small projects, and look forward to working with them again in the future. Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

As long as you follow the instructions on your peel-and-stick tile packaging, it should not damage your walls. A possible instance when you may accidentally damage your walls is if you install tiles improperly using additional adhesives that aren’t recommended.

Also, you can damage your walls if you’re not careful when removing tile. For example, you could accidentally make holes in the drywall with a paint scraper if you don’t heat the adhesive long enough before trying to pry it off.

Your floors should be completely level for tile, otherwise you risk damaging the tiles in the future. When there are even small gaps or hills in the subfloor beneath the tile, this puts more pressure on the tile when you walk around on the floor. With repeated traffic, the tiles are at risk of cracking, and you’ll have to deal with tile repairs sooner than if the floor was completely level.

A cement backer board is not needed for laying tile on concrete. Sometimes referred to as a cementitious backer unit, or CBU, backer board should be used if the subfloor is plywood or OSB. The backer board provides a base on which to install the tiles that isn’t as likely to be damaged by any accidental water seepage as natural materials would be.

How long painted tiles last ultimately comes down to the quality of the paint job and how much wear and tear the tiles get. It’s possible the paint job will only last about six months if the tiles are in a high-traffic area and they weren’t properly cleaned, sanded, and primed prior to painting and sealing. Well-painted tiles in a low-traffic area should last at least a year.

The best paints for shower tiles include epoxy, latex, or acrylic. Ideally, you should look for paints that are waterproof and mildew-resistant if you plan to paint shower or other bathroom tiles. You can even find waterproof paints made specifically for tiled surfaces, which will be the best option for shower tile paint that lasts as long as possible.
