"Chris replaced a backsplash in our new house. The previous owner had installed subway tile himself and it was done horribly. Chris came highly recommended by a previous client, and he did not disappoint. Chris was on time and professional. He removed the previous backsplash, replaced the drywall, and installed the glass mosaic tile we purchased. Chris advised us on grout and offered additional decorative decisions; the end result surpassed what we envisioned. We highly recommend Chris for any tile work and will definitely use him again for future projects."

"We had a difficult decorative ceramic tile repair job on a kitchen backsplash. The tile had been badly damaged and broken when a new range was installed. Jack Fritz did a great job re-assembling the tile pieces and installing them so that it is hard to see where the damage was. He was professional and his price was very fair."

Small jobs welcome

"Fabiano and his son, Will, did an excellent job of staining and installing crown molding in our HAVERTOWN, PA kitchen. Both gentlemen are “good people,” hard working, responsive, and earning of high praise."

"We called several services and contractors to get estimates for the installation of our hardwood flooring. Some did not reply and others (e.g. Costco) walked in the door and right back out as they were unable to either install standard staircases ... no less a staircase that has three pie shaped steps for a turn. Luckily, a neighbor had used J.U.I. to install hardwood floors in their entryway and living room and we gave them a call. Janeen, one of the owners, showed up for the first visit. She was absolutely charming and very knowledgeable ... giving us lots of advice on our many questions (e.g. smooth or hand scraped ... consider hand scraped if your grandchildren are frequent visitors). She took measurements, showed us product choices, and told us that we'd hear from her soon. That was true and we soon heard from her husband, Terry, who wanted to take a look at our pie shaped steps. Terry was just as lovely as Janeen. We trusted both of them from day one.
Terry assured us that he would be able to both make our treads and risers, including the pie shaped pieces, and that it would seamlessly match the manufactured pieces that we'd be purchasing for the entry way, hallway, bedroom, closets, and powder room. So, we signed on the dotted line.
Working with Terry and his team, with Janeen handling the finances was a breeze. The job was completed in a week, with us asking Terry to come back at a later date to install matching handrails. They were neat, efficient, and trustworthy. I had some concerns with the first set of treads that Terry made. He asked my opinion and when he heard my concern, he made a completely new set of treads which I love. I apologized, feeling bad for the additional work. Terry was very clear that our complete satisfaction was his goal. He hit a home run on the second set of treads.
We left the house multiple times throughout the job with full confidence that Terry and his staffer would take good care of our home. Janeen kept us in touch with status updates and financial statements.
I will admit that I was (and still am) amazed by the hand crafted steps that Terry created for us. The color match to the flooring is spot on. The handwork on the steps and risers is perfect. I think that my steps are museum worthy and there is not a person who enters our home that doesn't immediately comment on the beauty of our stairs. (I wish that I were a better photographer so that I could capture their depth and beauty.)
I think that J.U.I. deserves the highest recommendation. Their work is first class and Terry and Janeen earn your trust. I could not have been happier with our choice or our results."

"Initially had very fast turnaround time to have my shower installed but was then hit with several delays. On my installation day; however, Micah and Sinan were great."

"Let me start by saying that overall I was satisfied. The crew came and covered floors and protected railings etc. They were all polite, hardworking, and for the majority of the work everything was done extremely well. There were a few minor problems. There were some communication errors. For example arriving on the weekend without prior notification, Failure to notify me when they were not coming, and late arrival by the electrician. The electrician installed new outlets on new walls crooked. He also installed a ceiling fan crookedly. I was assured that this would be fixed but the person they sent claimed that they could not fix the problems. And by this time I no longer trusted their electrician. I have since hired a new company to correct the issues. (This electrician claims that it all can be fixed). The final correction list was not fully addressed and I feel that a job of this size should have had these minor problems addressed. I would hire again but retain some money to insure final corrections are fully addressed."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install a backsplash directly onto drywall, provided the wall is properly prepped, clean, and dry. For best results, especially in kitchen areas, your walls should be made of moisture-resistant drywall, often called green board. If your current wall isn't moisture-resistant, it's recommended to replace it before installing the backsplash. For even greater protection against water damage, you can remove the existing drywall and install a tile backer board or cement board instead. While properly installed standard drywall is typically strong enough to support a backsplash, some local building codes may require water-resistant materials in kitchen areas, so it's a good idea to check.

A quality shower tiling project is a bathroom upgrade that can increase resale value. Bathroom remodels have the highest return on investments for any home update. Tiling a shower won’t offer the potential 70% ROI that a full bathroom remodel involving upgrading fixtures, installing storage, and a complete room retile will. However, you can expect an average return of 55% to 60% for this refresh.

Popular options include ceramic, porcelain, stone, and glass tiles, chosen based on the area (bathroom, kitchen) and desired aesthetic.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.
