Customers say: True professional

"Jim and his son were prompt and meticulous. They installed butcher block countertops that I had purchased beforehand, along with glass tile backsplash in my kitchen. Additionally, they installed a new sink, garbage disposal, and gas cooktop, and all associated plumbing. Jim had great suggestions along the way, and overall it was a terrific experience."

"From the initial estimate and quote to the actual execution of the work, Pedro and his team did a fantastic job. They were diligent, consistently on time, accommodating of our requests, and completed the basement finishing—approximately 700 sq ft—in just three weeks. We couldn’t believe the pace of their work. The quality was excellent. Keep up the great work, Pedro!"

"Zach did an excellent job regarding gutter cleaning. In addition to the gutter work, he spotted a problem with the trim around my window that I never noticed before. Even though he tried to correct the problem during the visit, it turned out to be more involved and will require additional work to fix. Zach was very patient and answered all my questions concerning this problem. I would definitely hire Zach to do any repairs around my home."

"He called me back quickly, came over to assess the work, gave me an estimate. We scheduled a day to perform the plastering work and he arrived on time, did an excellent job, and charged me the estimate price. I really appreciated the cleanup job afterwards. I recommend this plastering company to others who appreciate excellent service."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.

Your tiles will have a significant visual impact on your bathroom, so you’ll want to make a thoughtful decision. Once you land on the tile material that suits your needs and budget, you can consider the color schemes you want. Consider whether you want something modern, classic, or eye-catching.
