"Dave with 2 other workers were prompt and efficient. They came when they said they would and finished everything in 2 days. Everything looks fantastic because they protected my personal space with a plastic shield and cleaned everything up. Dirt and rubble was hauled away and they even sprayed my walkways outside. They installed the basement system and connected all my outside downspouts. I would highly recommend Highlander to anyone who needs waterproofing because they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy."

"Seamless experience from start to finish. Todd was super knowledgeable and through on the consult/ sales end. The install team made quick work of the project. Their work was top notch and my basement is now completely dry. I would recommend their services to anyone with basement or foundation issues."

SaniDry Sedona is the world's most efficient, high-performance dehumidifier and filtration system and is a crucial element in basement waterproofing and crawl space repair. As a result of its compact size, it occupies less space in a basement and can easily be tucked away in a crawl space. The unit eliminates damp, musty odors by drying and filtering the air, and it costs less to run than other dehumidifiers. It filters mold spores, dust mite droppings, dust and other particles, and it keeps hu

"Team is professional, estimate was accurate, they are very conscious of explaining the work as they go and they work clean. The owners take great pride in doing good work with products that do the job. They considered not only drain installation but the overall site to ensure landscaping and drainage would help keep the basement dry. I would highly recommend this team for basement waterproofing work."

"The work was messy but The crew was very hard working. The jackhammer hit a pipe under our sink. They came back to fix that. While the amount of water was drastically reduced in our basement, I will never feel secure enough to finish it. They have returned 4-5 times to troubleshoot the problem because their service has a lifetime guarantee. The last time they came (2 years after original job) they added another sump pump and redug one of the ditches. It seems to have helped but I still see a very small amount of water seeping through a few cracks in the floor. With two small kids in the house, it's exhausting to keep having service people in and out of your house. I'm not happy it took so many visits, but I think overall that they were fairly quick in responding to my calls and getting out to our house."

"We needed to have the attic insulated the way it should have been done originally so we called on Dr Energy Saver because it was a division of Burke Construction. This was the fourth job we have had done by Burke including having a total bathroom makeover, a complete remodeling of a kitchen/dining room, window replacement (at the same time as the kitchen/dining room, and the construction-from-scratch of new basement stairs. We knew going in that the job would cost more than other companies might charge, but we were also confident that the work would be outstanding. The work included sealing any gaps where air can exit up through the ceiling into the attic, adding insulation and adding a floor, and as the final touch, creating an insulated and sealed box to be placed over the pull-down attic stairs, one of the biggest uninsulated and leaky parts of the ceiling. Our house has some oddities of construction that the crew had to be creative in solving, and the team did so not only coming up with I-never-thought-of-that solutions but without the extra nickel and dimeing another company might do, and they were very conscientious about not just getting it right, but making it excellent, including returning promptly to correct the couple of the usual unforseeable eventualities. The crew was also very careful to minimize the mess and to clean up afterwards. We will have to wait until next winter to quantify savings in our electric bill, but this cold spring has given us a taste of what is to come with the elimination of the chilly spots that existed before the work was done. Would we have Burke Construction in our home again? Without a doubt."

"It has now been a year since we had the waterproofing of our basement waterproofed. I waited this long because with this type of repair I believe you have to wait and see if it did what it was supposed to do. Of course we have had a very dry summer but we have had several heavy rains when it did rain. Please note that the customer service is rated very low: this is only because I have no idea what it is like and no reflection on the actual company in that respect. So hear is what I think: First and for most our basement has stayed dry. However, we had a footer that they replaced all around the base of the walls. We did everything we were told to do and yet there are still numerous cracks in it. My concern is that these cracks will allow the concrete to break. We paid $20000.00 for this fix and now have cracks. Was it worth it? Well we are dry so that's good, but for the money I am very disappointed to see all the cracks! This survey gave me no way to give the answer for post work so all I can go on is pre. The flaw in this is that I can only comment on when they were trying to sell the product to me. I found the salesmen was somewhat arrogant and pushy. We went with this company because we only had 1 other prospect (who we would have gone with, by the way, but despite what the salesman from Mid Atlantic would have you believe, offered the same warranty but wasn't able to get to us in time and we needed the work done)."

FAQs for basement waterproofing projects in Bushkill, PA

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites

You can DIY basement waterproofing in some ways to help save on the overall costs. If your basement isn’t experiencing a lot of water but is noticeably humid, you can try running a dehumidifier that will pull the excess water out of the air. If you notice water leaking due to outdoor drainage issues, you can add downspout extensions to keep rainwater away from your home.

However, if the problem is more severe and requires a more extensive solution, it’s best to call a basement waterproofing professional to assess the treatment you need and install waterproofing safeguards properly. Since keeping water out of your basement is important, ensuring this job is done correctly the first time is best.

Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.

Several factors dictate if you should waterproof the interior or exterior of your basement. Waterproofing the exterior of your home is a great option if you use your basement for storage, as it provides the most protection from water and water damage. If you prefer work done outside of your home versus inside, exterior waterproofing is best for you. However, interior waterproofing is often less expensive since the area is easier to reach and requires less labor.

The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.

If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500 and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.
