"Highly recommend Mueller tree service. Outstanding work done by Brandon and his very experienced crew. They took a very tall beech tree that was extremely close to my house and garage and systematically removed it in a very selective and controlled manner. Very nice low cut on the tree stump and excellent job site cleanup. Also took down two other trees and cleaned up branches hanging over my house. All at a very reasonable price. You won't be disappointed."

"The tree stump didn't need to be removed, but the fallen branch did. They removed it timely and cleaned up very well. My only complaint was that the broken off section wasn't properly sealed to avoid any possible infections."

"Highly recommend him for anything really. He came and cut a tree down for me and my wife and cleaned up and stacked the firewood in the garage. He gave me his card and I saw that he also did fencing called him back about putting a chain link fence up for our German shepherds because no one in the area would call us back. The following week he gave me the quote and 2 days later he was at my house and had the fence up in a day and a half. Great work and really professional."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

Unfortunately, most of the time you’re out of luck if a neighbor’s tree blocks your view. You don’t have a right to a view, so if you have a tree that’s near the property line but on your neighbor’s property, you can’t cut it to be able to take in a majestic mountain or a beautiful sunrise. In some communities, however, there are ordinances protecting scenic views. Checking into your local laws can help you determine your rights in this situation.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Depending on the severity of the damage, a tree might continue healing for years after a split or a break. Saplings can usually bounce back in the spring in one or two seasons, but larger trees might take a few years to regain their former strength. If your tree is showing strong growth and is not dropping limbs, you can consider it healed after the first two seasons.

Trees provide many benefits, including shade, habitat for local wildlife, and cleaner air, so it’s always a good idea to try an alternative strategy like crown reduction before you chop one down. But sometimes, cutting down a tree is the only option (like if it’s severely diseased). A licensed arborist can assess the tree and recommend the best course of action.
