"Jennifer, Kristina and the entire team are amazing - a first class act. It's really true - once you start with one area you just want to keep going. I've worked with Team Nifelle on two different projects - one being a complete remodel of a second home and then redoing and freshening up areas in a home we built 18 years ago. Her office staff and designers on her team are top notch. I can say that I look forward to each time a meeting is scheduled - lots of creative energy flows. And results are fantastic. Jennifer and Kristina have patiently worked with me through lots of questions and many doubts - and it has all turned out beautifully. You can trust Jennifer and her team for the very best of it all."

With over 40 years in business and still family owned, you know we will be available for your future needs. All our work comes with a written warranty for your peace of mind and long term satisfaction. Our quality work comes from experts who are individually trained to provide a smooth lustrous finish with proper application. Small repairs and experienced handyman workmanship also available. Additional contact: Larry Pellum

"Larry and Kelly did fantastic work. We were happy with the communication, attention to detail and the quality of their work. For example, we chose a deep red for our front door and they took extra time and effort to do numerous coats to make it look really great. They earned our trust and we plan to go back to Native Son Painting when we need the interior of our home painted."

"This was the third time we’ve used Shepard Painting and again, we couldn’t have been happier with the results. Justin’s crew always pays great attention to detail in the preparation prior to painting, including covering plants and patio. Justin provided a detailed estimate and contract after a walk-around inspection and discussing our concerns. We had some window repair prior to painting and Justin worked with our schedule so that painting began the week following the repairs. After the painting was complete, a crew showed up the next day for any touch-up required and Justin did another walk-around with us to make certain the job was completed to our satisfaction. The crew cleaned up the site daily and Justin was in daily communication with us to address any problems or concerns. This is a very professionally run company and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them."

Quality Calvary Construction prides ourselves on our ability to offer great value on top quality workmanship. We bring over 30 years of combined experience to the homeowners of Portland's east side. Honesty and Integrity are the principles on which we've built our business. Over the years we have established relationships with reputable subcontractors in all trades and will oversee your project from start to finish. If you demand quality work from a business who holds Christian values, call Quality Calvary Construction and schedule your free estimate today!

"The original contract called for the drywall to be sub-contracted out to specialists. I could speculate as to why, but for whatever reason they decided to have their crew do the work. This was one of the most time consuming and painful parts of the process to watch, it is difficult for me to find words to express how cruel it was to leave these crew members in over their heads for weeks struggling without any help from someone knowledgeable. They would attempt to mud, and then call ME in to inspect the work, as if the home owner was their quality control supervisor. They were desperately trying to get it “good enough”, so that they could move on. At one point after they had primed, textured, and painted — an actual supervisor, Larry, finally showed up — saw how horrible the work was and made them sand down sections and re-mud and start over. They were already way over schedule at this point and this completely inept crew continued to stumble its way through attempting to finish the job, under-trained and under-supervised. At one point Larry told me he thought it was important that his employee keep doing it over until he got it right so that he would learn… at whose expense?! Glen and Larry can try to blame their workers, but no one was onsite supervising, and that is completely on them. Currently as I look at the “finished” walls, there are countless obvious sub-standard imperfections on every surface, but I was not going to drag this project out for additional weeks while they try and get their crew up to professional levels. At some point you have to cut your losses and move on, which is why I asked them to stop working and leave, having seen their crew repeatedly demonstrate that they did not possess the skills to get it right."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

You should be aware of the current wallpaper and interior trends before hanging it, especially if you are planning on selling or listing your home soon. Do people in your market tend to prefer bold designs and accent walls, or does having a simpler print all over seem like a better idea? Lastly, you want something that appeals to your aesthetic preferences; hanging wallpaper is an investment of your time and money after all.

If you prefer peel-and-stick to traditional wallpaper, you can skip the priming process. Many manufacturers don't require an additional primer if you’re installing peel-and-stick wallpaper to painted walls. However, if you’re applying peel-and-stick wallpaper to unfinished drywall, you’ll need to apply a primer first.

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface. You should also prime your wall before applying wallpaper and smooth the wall as much as you can, and another layer of wallpaper complicates this process.
