The representative was courteous and helpful. He said he would get me a printed bid in about a week which he did. Since we had gotten multiple bids from other vendors, I wanted to see if perhaps Home Comfort was flexible on their pricing. After some back and forth, it was apparent they were not, which was fine. Although their bid was not the lowest, we had done business with them in the past (they had done the maintenance on our heat pump for years) and their price was acceptable. I e-mailed the Plumbing Supervisor to let him know that I accepted their offer to do the work. The only thing that I asked was that they update the contract sheet to: 1) Show the correct model of the Rinnai Tankless hot water heater that they were to install (the wrong model was listed on the contract) and 2) to list separately the price of the Rinnai unit, the installation cost for the Rinnai unit and the installation cost of the Natural Gas Fireplace insert. This was necessary so that I could receive the Energy Trust of Oregon rebate for the Natural Gas Fireplace insert and so that I could claim the Oregon Tax Credit for the Rinnai Hot water heater. On 9/1/2012, I accepted Home Comfort's Offer via e-mail dated 8/31/2012. On 9/10/2012, Home Comfort e-mails me the following: "We are currently 5-6 weeks out from being able to do your job. We have recently took on a large project that has all of our time wrapped up. It may be in your best interest to contact the other company." To which I responded via e-mail on 9/10/2012: "I don't have a problem that you're booked out 5-6 weeks, in fact that will actually work better for us now. My main concern is once you can schedule the job, I get a Date Certain Start date and a Date Certain completion date so I can rely that the project will be completed within a given time range. And for scheduling purposes, and given that you're 5-6 weeks scheduled out, I definitely need a date when you can start, so I can contact Northwest Natural who said it would take 5-10 business days for them to bring natural gas to the house and install the gas meter. This will allow me time the installation of the gas two weeks prior to your start date to make sure gas service is at the house. So please look at your scheduling calendar so we can talk about some dates 5-8 weeks or so into the future, so we can get this done. I'm hopeful that a 5-8 week lead time will work for you as to scheduling this project. I'm a flexible and reasonable person, so I don't see any reason why we can't do business together. So let's talk, work up a revised contract, get some install dates and finalize any details so we can complete this project." After hearing nothing from Home Comfort for eight days in response to my e-mail to them I e-mail them again on 9/18/2012 to ask for a status update. On 9/25/2012, I received the following e-mail from Home Comfort: "We are going to pass on this project." On 9/25/2012 and 10/1/2012, I sent e-mails to the Plumbing Supervisor and the owner of Home Comfort asking to speak to them about their decision and rationale for pulling out of the deal. I never received a response from them. I filed a Better Business Bureau Complaint against them. All they could do is deny we had a contract and indicated they had no interest in trying to come to some sort of a compromise to resolve this issue. While it is likely Home Comfort would likely dispute the facts as I have presented them, though I have the e-mails to prove what I have stated here, Home Comfort cannot justify why they would not call me back to discuss their decision to decline my business, even though we DID have a contract for work to be done. Their conduct is reprehensible and unprofessional in every sense of those words. Base on my experience I would hope anyone thinking of doing business with Home Comfort would think twice before doing so.

At Your Service Repair was extremely responsive and flexible with their service times. They came to our home and fixed our stove quickly, and their pricing was very reasonable. I am grateful that I can fully use my stove again, especially at a fraction of the cost of buying a new one.
Andrew was very efficient and pleasant while he worked on the gas fireplace in our home. He was very professional. Thank you, Andrew!

"It been a few years since they built my two retaining walls, but they did a great job. I originally hired someone through a friend and it didn't go well. I found Blackstone masonry and they started the job from scratch. Half way through my project I had to make some changes. They were very accommodating and finished the job within a great time frame. showed up when they said. The two walls are in excellent shape still. No problems."

"Maintenance visit was a win. Props to Cam, the technician that just spent two hours checking out and tuning up the two heads and one outdoor unit at my house. I did my best to simply stay out of his way, and when all was done, he gave me a brief report and kind but professional answers to two of my own questions. His service included taking care of a small issue with one of the heads. The service cost me less than I had thought. That's likely my own confusion, but it made me happy nonetheless!"

FAQs for gas fireplace service projects in Walterville, OR
The average cost to repair a fireplace is $575. You might pay anywhere from $95 to $2,500, depending on the severity of repairs and the type of fireplace. A typical repair of an igniter can range from $100 to $150. However, if you need to repair your mantel, expect the bill to be anywhere from $500 to $1,200. Wood fireplaces tend to cost more to repair due to specialized labor costs. Electric fireplaces tend to be the most cost-effective to repair, along with gas.
The cost to install a fireplace is $2,440 on average. This cost can range from $150 to $8,000 or more, depending on the type of fireplace, the materials used, and the size.
Electric fireplaces cost around $1,000 to install, and mostly only require wiring installation. Installing a wood fireplace from scratch could cost upwards of $10,000, depending on the foundation needed to support the weight of the fireplace. In addition, gas fireplaces can cost between $2,500 and $10,000.

Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.
A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
