"It’s so upsetting to see this kind of totally unfair review. The facts: I was contacted by the client the third week of October. She is located roughly 23 miles (one way) from our location. She asked that we presite for a wood stove install. I arrived on October 28th. She was no where near ready for an install. She wanted my advice as to an alcove to be constructed by other contractors to install an 8” diameter wood stove she had purchased used. 8” pipe is almost never used and is a special order. After spending over an hour with her and her husband, advising them on the details, I left, no charge. I was contacted again the end of November by her to let me know that construction had started on the alcove, but they needed my expertise as to how to build it. I went again to the jobsite and consulted with her remodelers as to what to build. I then ordered materials for the install, which were custom order and as such, non-returnable. I was sent pictures by the client on the 16th of December as to what had been constructed because she was concerned that it was not right. Being a professional, I told her “not what I expected, but I can make it work”. I contacted my suppliers and ordered additional parts. Due to Christmas & new year’s, some of the parts were delayed. When we communicated this. She became very upset and was verbally abusive with my wife. She also sent a very curt e-mail saying to hold on all and she was considering canceling. I don’t respond well to threats so I chose to retract my offer to install the stove. I had already incurred $700.00 in parts (not to mention hours of labor) that are non-returnable. I still chose to refund her full $1,000.00 deposit. Now I get the enjoyment (NOT) of reading this kind of review. WOW! I do the best I can to be honorable and do good business. If this client feels she is vindicated by her review, OK. I just hope when you read her review and my response you will give me the benefit of the doubt. I’m Jim Beck, owner of The Stove Doctor"
"Thoses sneaky concreate logs. They hold heat for hours. Glad it was not damage to your carpet. Thank you for the nice reivew."
"Thank you for the kind review."
"As the owner of The Stove Doctor, I am sorry to this customer for feeling the service was not what they expected. We strive to make sure all of our customers are taken care of the the best of our ability. The only response here is to say that I wish this customer had contacted me with their concerns before posting this kind of a review. I have complete confidence in my son Cameron's skills to perform this type of safety inspection, but as I was not the technician to do this exam I would have been more than happy to personally re exam their fireplace at no charge to confirm the original diagnosis, and I would still do so for them if they desired it. It is unfortunate that in this day of social media that this is the way complaints are handled. I prefer a good conversation to a bad review. Blessings to you. Jim Beck The Stove Doctor"
schedule the appointment in the summer and they always work with my
schedule. he orders parts when needed and is gives good estimates and
always dose a good job. I leave a key to the house for him if I need him
to fix the stove and I can't be there. They are a very small company
just him and his wife or son. I would never think of using anyone
else. He always leaves the house just as clean as it was. He always takes his shoes off before he comes in. He will move small furniture if I forget to. Very friendly to Me and my dogs and cat.
The Stove Doctor had been recommended by a few different people and the service was fantastic, from the initial call to their office, follow up calls, the reminder the evening before each appointment. No wonder he has such a great reputation.
