I showed Israel pictures of what I wanted it to look like and his team did an amazing job making my vision a reality. They were careful with my existing plants and landscaping and went above and beyond by moving and repotting a shrub that I was unable to move by myself before the work began. They also replaced parts of my backyard that had been removed by neighbors and built a beautiful new fence and gate out of cedar. "File this under "you pay for what you get". (The bid was less expensive.) In September 2012, I hired Fitzpatrick Painting to paint and caulk my house. This included a "10-year warranty" with an inspection by the company every two years. The company provided me with a copy of their fancy "warranty". In July 2019, the paint failed badly on one side of my house. I called Fitzpatrick Painting who sent out one of their "senior" inspectors to examine the issue. The inspector confirmed that the paint did indeed fail and I was entitled to a rework under warranty. Since that time, Tim Fitzpatrick, the owner, has done the best impression of duck, dodge, and hide in taking care of this problem. In 2019, my job was delayed until it was too late in the year. In 2020, he couldn't do it due to COVID. Now, after numerous emails, he appears onsite in August 2021 and has no "recollection" of the problem, the delays, and even the inspector who made the decision in 2019. He now refuses to correct the failure of his company's paint job that his own inspector confirmed. When confronted with his lying and deceitful business practices, he immediately sped off the job site and barely missed hitting his own worker's vehicle. Don't be a victim of this charlatan as I have been. AVOID!"

Glass has one of the longest lifespans of any fencing materials, lasting anywhere from 10 to 30 years on average. Just how long your glass fence lasts depends on several factors, including how well you maintain your fence, the climate, and the type of glass you use. 

If you live somewhere with severe weather like hail, tornadoes, or hurricanes, expect your glass to have a shorter lifespan. Pool glass is one of the thickest tempered glass materials and may last longer than other options—especially compared to laminated glass.

Wood fences last an average of 15 years but can have a life span of 20 years or more depending on the type of wood used, your local weather, and how well you maintain it over the years. Pine fences will only last five to 10 years if untreated, but pressure-treated pine fences will get you to 20 years. Cedar’s natural resistance to the elements lends it to a remarkable lifespan of 40 years or more.

While it’s possible to remove a fence post with a truck and requires little physical effort, we don’t recommend this method. You can potentially hurt others or yourself or damage your property or vehicle attempting to take a fence post out with a truck. Instead, use a farm jack or a pole puller to remove the post.

Posts for a horizontal fence should be no more than 6 feet apart. Wood pickets are not as strong when mounted horizontally as when mounted vertically. As such, the fence panels on a horizontal fence can’t cover the same span between posts as a vertical fence can. If you install the posts further apart on a horizontal fence, the fence will lose stability, making the boards more likely to sag.
