Double-pane windows cost an average of $900 per window. The price range for double-pane windows goes as low as $300 and as high as $4,500 per window. This window type differs from single-pane windows by spacers separating the panes and helping strengthen them while holding them in place. A gas like argon or krypton typically fills the space between the panes.

The material around a window is simply called the window frame, but the individual pieces also have different names. The top portion of the frame is called the head, the side pieces are called jambs, and the bottom portion is called the sill. These caulks will not last long and may shrink and pull away from the window as temperatures go up and down.
