"Responded the next day after my online inquiry. Came out that day to give me a quote. I was satisfied with the price. Came out on a Saturday so I didn't have to take any time off from work. Cleaned up after themselves and did a professional job on the windows. Very friendly husband and wife team."

"We contacted three companies for bids on new siding and windows. All of the companies used Hardie Plank products, but Lifetime Exteriors quoted the best price for comparable quality of product and installation.
All of the windows, including a sliding patio door, were removed and replaced with Milgard sliding windows. The areas of siding affected by dry rot were removed and repaired, new vapor barrier was installed over the existing siding, and new Hardie Plank horizontal siding was installed. The soffits, garage door, and front door were painted to match the siding colors.
The windows and siding work were completed in a professional and timely manner. The painting was also done very well, but it took a few weeks for the painters to complete their work after the siding had been finished.
Overall we are very pleased with the way the fresh and updated appearance of our home, and anticipate that the siding should last many years.

Windows questions, answered by experts

Folding window installation costs about $1,600 on average, ranging from $500 to $3,000. The cost factors of this project include the size, the type of folding windows, the number of panels, and the type of glass. Different types of folding windows include:

  • Standard folding window: $200 per linear foot

  • Glazed folding window: $240 per linear foot

  • Standard folding window and swing door: $1,000 per linear foot

  • Folding window and sliding door: $2,000 per linear foot

Drafts, condensation between panes, difficulty operating, or visible frames or glass damage are signs of needed repairs.

Arched windows used to be most prevalent in more traditional home styles, like Spanish colonial and Gothic, but they are becoming increasingly popular in modern design. You’ll often find arched windows in new home builds across many styles, including farmhouse and contemporary architecture. This represents a more general trend toward more unique houses with interesting features.

The average lifespan for a casement window is around 20 years, but some higher-end casement windows with more durable frame materials can last up to around 40 years before you need to replace them. You’ll need to carry out routine maintenance and window cleaning—and, on occasion, casement window restoration—to extend the lifespan of your casement windows. But they tend to wear more slowly than windows with sliding sashes because the weatherstripping sees minimal friction.

Wood windows fall in the middle of the window frame materials when it comes to energy efficiency. They’re more insulating than aluminum and vinyl, but they aren’t as efficient as fiberglass or composite frames. If you love the look and lifespan of wood windows and want to maximize efficiency, you can upgrade to double-pane or triple-pane glass and consider window tinting and low-emissivity (low-E) coatings to minimize heat transfer.
