"After getting 3-4 estimates from other contractors, I contacted Lifetime since they were listed with Energy Trust of Oregon  and are partners with Clean Energy Works of Oregon, as well as having an Angie's List high rating & discount.  I selected their specialty glass "Solar View" for a clear glass look (not green tinted) but still having the low U-rating (0.22).  Also, Lifetime is certified for lead based paint removal and 1 or more of my windows possibly had lead paint around them.Their salesman, Rick, came out at a time convenient for me and we discussed all my needs & he recommended the Solar View (they carry a few different brands).  He was very nice and worked up the preliminary estimates.  He graciously came out again a few days later to show me a sample of the Solar View & we confirmed the contract.  Only problem:  they don't provide written estimates upon discussion; I had to insist on getting an itemized quote prior to signing the contract,  which was given to me a few days later.The owner, Eric,  came out a few days after I signed the contract to get final measurements.  I was SO glad to talk with Eric;  he's extremely knowledgeable not only about his products, but also of the installation process which might have had a few problems with my house.  He explained everything;  was patient with my multitude of questions & helped to work out a number of problems that became apparent that Rick didn't tell me about (due to partial lack of training,  partial ????).  But, Eric provided options & found solutions for me.  Including:    1) I wouldn't get the doggie door side of the slider in the specialty glass as previously sold to me. (Solution:  Eric provided the specialty glass to the doggie-door manufacturer and married up the whole slider.  I don't get the energy  rebate for the door side due to the doggie door addition, but at least I have all matching glass in the slider.)    2)  the doggie door could be provided ONLY in the sliding door part, not the stationary side which I had wanted;  but that precludes having the screen door closed for air while still allowing the dogs in/out.  (Solution:  Eric checked w/ the manufacturer and learned that doggie doors can be put in screens also;  I'll do that individually).      3)  I have 2 large basement  push-out egress windows that upon final measurement was discovered that Lifetime has only a crank style window that would work.  I had told Rick that I refuse to have a crank for an emergency exit on very large heavy windows for safety reasons, so we took those off the scope of work entirely.     I liked that problems were pointed out ahead of time;  solutions worked on & confirmed, and the contract was revised to accommodate the revisions.  I was VERY confident to give the go ahead.   They scheduled the install for about 2 weeks later on days that I could arrange around my work, which was extremely helpful.Ed & Matt came out to install -- it took 2 days.  They were both extremely professional,  on time, polite,  & cleaned up the area well after each day.  I greatly appreciated that they also called me over from time to time for me to check an install to be sure it was the way I wanted it (ex:  sliding door alignment).    Only issue we found was the kitchen window latch had not been ordered correctly (it has to be placed low on the window for me to reach it.  Ed called it in the same day & replacement sashes are being made.  I've learned that those will be installed probably next week.     I'm EXTREMELY happy with both the service and the windows.   Lifetime's price was a little on the higher range compared to other quotes, but their crew are employees (not subcontractors)  which I prefer, and I believe I received top quality workmanship on the install which was very important to me.  And, the windows are absolutely beautiful!"
