"Victor took my job knowing that timing was a critical part of the job scope, and having told me he could accommodate that. But then, without consulting me, he pushed my start date back 4 months. And eventually, another 6 weeks. Then he stopped communicating with me, and when I checked in, two weeks before we were finally supposed to start, he told me he wasn't going to do my work, after all. So I waited--and missed my window of opportunity to do the work the way I needed it done--for nothing. He had me go through this long, labor intensive "development process" which I have never had a contractor do before. I appreciated what appeared to be an interest in getting all the details correct, before any work began, but it took tons of time--especially because we would talk about stuff, but then only some of it would appear in the next iteration of his job scope, and I'd have to go back and try again, to get him to get it right. I think in the end, that's why he decided not to continue with me--because it was taking a ton of time (for me, too!). I don't get it. It was his process. If it wasn't working for him, why didn't he say so and make a course correction, instead of leading me on for months and then leaving me high and dry? That, plus, I was doing a lot of the work that normally would have been the GC's job, e.g., finding sources for specialty materials, buying a lot of them myself (already had a lot of them on-site, when I contacted him), getting permit drawing and applying for permits (not sure why that got dumped in my lap and wasn't part of the original bid, but it wasn't). I will say, he seems very intelligent, and I liked him a lot as a person. And he very generously helped me gather a bunch of information I needed, early on. I can't comment on the work quality, since in the end, he never did any."

Their vehicles repeatedly blocking neighbors, material delivery blocking very important access to our garage, design change to stairway suggested by their designer is a constant headache. The deck wasn?t the right size. Project manager rarely supervised work and was repeatedly done incorrectly. They even had to tear off the surface and start over a couple times. They used wood that was already splintered. They kept adding money to the final total and expected payment immediately but when they owed us they had no record of the proper calculations. The backyard was a muddy mess because they started during the rainy season even though that?s when the project should?ve been finished according to their timeline. We signed the contract in May. Unhappy with the current state. The permit is still open and they ignore contact from the city. "
