"Dakota Property services did a fantastic job across the board. Matthew is 100% customer service driven. He was professional and prompt on the initial quote. He called to give a specific time window when the crew would arrive. We met the crew at the appointment. They were courteous, accommodating, and professional. The work done was above and beyond expectations. They cleaned up excess debris around the neighbors. Crew leader checked in prior to departure to make sure all needs were met. Matthew called after the work was complete to ask if we were satisfied. The whole experience was a breath of fresh air. Our driveway, street, and decks are the cleanest in the neighborhood. This is our 2nd time using Dakota Property Services. We will be using them again next year!"

"Pacific Silver Landscape did a fantastic job replacing an old, deteriorating patio with new pavers at my home. They also leveled the front lawn, planted sod, created 3 large beds for plants and did several smaller items in my backyard. Jorge, the owner, was really wonderful! He worked very collaboratively with me on design ideas, checked in as he went to make sure what he and his crew were doing was in alignment with what I wanted and did superior quality work. His crew was great, his pricing was fair and he stayed exactly on schedule. Jorge worked closely with his team and oversaw all their work. He is also a very genuine and nice person! I would hire Pacific Silver Landscape again in a heartbeat and highly recommend them for any landscape project."

Customers say: True professional

"Even before I got to the property, the Escobar guys arrived, had dug out the line, and diagnosed the problem. Very quickly, they replaced the broken part, and my rental house was back online. They performed incredibly fast work and were professional the entire time."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

While the specific timeline for building a driveway can vary based on driveway length and local weather conditions, the average concrete driveway can require several days to lay down all of the different parts of the driveway. The curing process may require you to avoid using your driveway for a week following construction. Heavier vehicles should be kept off of a new concrete driveway for several weeks. Building a gravel driveway may take just one to two days in total.

Gravel is one of the few driveway materials that can handle rain the second it’s installed. Unlike asphalt, which needs days to set, or concrete, which requires weeks to cure, gravel is ready as soon as it’s compacted. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

Many asphalt companies have experience with tar and chip paving, but not all. The process is unique enough—and not incredibly common enough—that you may have to look around for a tar and chip specialist. However, speaking with a driveway company is a great place to start, especially if they have experience with multiple materials.

Asphalt paving offers several benefits, including cost-effectiveness and a quick installation process. It provides a durable and smooth surface, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. With proper maintenance, asphalt also offers longevity.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.
