"Emmett and his crew were a breath of fresh air! Timely, knowledgeable, pro-fessional, and considerate. Installation of our sliding door along with removal of existing windows was efficient and the result is just as we hoped for. Emmet's skill with electrical work is impressive. We are now ready for our Patio Enclosure to be put into place."

"I had an addition to my driveway put in as well as some repair work to my existing driveway and walkway. All I can say is that this company knocked it out of the park. Their office manager Scott was very responsive and the estimator Rob made quick work of getting my quote together. After that the foreman and crew did a great job installing and then cleaning up once the job was finished. I would recommend AQC for your next project as I will be using them again in the future."

"The entire crew was courteous and extremely professional. They removed everything from around the outside of the house after taking pictures, so it could be put back where everything belonged. They covered our patio door and air conditioner to protect both. After completion, all was put back in place and we were extremely pleased with our new roof. It was a true pleasure doing business with Al and his company. If you choose to use them, you will not be disappointed!"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Installing a basement window generally takes a few hours, assuming there are no structural issues you need to resolve first. If you’re a novice DIYer, the project could take longer; on the flip side, a licensed and trained window contractor may be able to replace multiple basement windows in the time it takes a homeowner to replace one.

There are a number of ways to secure windows. You can add motion detectors or window sensors to detect movement and impact or change the window locks to make them stronger. Some of the ways you can secure windows are much like how you secure a home: closing the curtains at night and setting up security cameras outside so you can monitor your property even in your absence.

Most standard windows can accommodate solar screens, but specialty shapes or non-standard frames may require custom solutions. It’s important to consult with a professional to ensure compatibility and proper fit for unique window designs. Arched, bay, and fabricated windows often need fabricated screens, which can increase costs and lead time.

Window screen repair costs an average of $310, with a typical range of $100 to $480. The final price depends on several factors, including the window size, accessibility, screen type, whether the frame needs replacement, and especially the screen material.

The cost of window screen materials varies widely based on durability and features:

  • Fiberglass: $35–$200

  • Aluminum: $50–$300

  • Copper: $90–$850

  • Stainless Steel: $45–$400

  • Brass: $100–$900

  • Solar: $55–$850

  • Security: $100–$1,000

  • Vinyl: $25–$120

Costs also differ by screen type. For instance, a prefabricated screen might cost only $40, moveable screens typically run $25 to $75, and retractable screens range from $300 to $900. To save money, you can choose more affordable materials like vinyl or fiberglass, opt to rescreen instead of replacing the entire frame, and have multiple screens repaired at once to reduce labor costs.

Window screens are available in several standard sizes. Common dimensions include 24 to 36 inches wide by 36 to 48 inches tall, as well as sizes like 18 by 14 inches and 20 by 20 inches. These often correspond to standard window sizes, such as 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall or 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall. Screens are also sold in replacement rolls to accommodate various dimensions. It is always best to measure your windows for accuracy before a repair or replacement. If your windows are a non-standard size, you will likely need to order custom screens, which can increase the cost. However, a screen does not necessarily have to fit the entire window, so you may be able to use a standard-size screen even if your window is slightly larger.
