"Solar Windows re-installed 4 windows in my home.  I bought these 4 windows at a big box home store 5 years ago and they were originally installed by a handyman friend who did a poor job and the windows were leaking both air and water.  After dealing with this problem for the last 5 years, I was looking for a company that really knew how to install windows properly, and fortunately I found the right people.  Most window companies won't install windows unless they sell you the new window - I know, I called several other companies and that's the answer I got, and I was about to give up.  Fortunately, Solar was willing to take on this job.  After a minor scheduling glitch, the owner, AJ, came out to my house twice before the re-installation - once to provide an estimate and another time to do some prep work. Great customer service. On the day the work was done, the installers called in advance and showed up right on time.  They told me it would take 2 to 3 hours, which it did.  The lead installer, Ronnie, said that he has been installing windows for 15 years and he is not a subcontractor - he works only for Solar.  That's the kind of guy you want installing your windows.  He did highly professional work - he custom formed the vinyl coated aluminum framing for the exterior of each window on site for a perfect fit.  My wife and I are so pleased and impressed.  We finally have well-installed windows that will be air and water tight and the aluminum trim work they did matches my other windows so well that they look like they were original on the home.  The price was also great - I couldn't be happier.        "

"Neatnics, provided excellent service at a great price in a very speedy and organized manner. Communication with Neatnics staff was extremely professional and organized. They took the time to help me develop and prioritize a very long list of repairs, and were very clear and accurate with the scope and cost of these much needed home improvement efforts. They also provided guidance on other long term fixes and the hiring of other specialists such as locksmiths, specialty electricians and plate glass providers. I would strongly recommend Neatnics to other Angie"s list members and am grateful for their professionalism and quality. I rate Neatnics as a AAA+ provider, for the services they provided me and would believe they are very capable for the mentioned services and those they further advertise.

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

There is no blanket number when it comes to glass thickness for soundproofing. Thicker glass does help reduce noise, but it’s only part of the solution. Most single-pane windows use glass that’s ⅛” to ¼” thick. While increasing the thickness can cut down on sound, the real noise-blocking power comes from stacking layers. Double—and triple-pane windows are far more effective for soundproofing. The combination of mass and separation breaks up sound waves better than thick glass could on its own.

Whether it's better to repair or replace a broken mirror depends on its size, value, and the extent of the damage. For small, inexpensive mirrors, replacement is often the better choice, as the average repair cost of around $200 can be close to the price of a new one. However, for large mirrors—like those over a bathroom vanity or large floor mirrors—repair is usually more cost-effective. A new large mirror can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, while repairs typically range from $50 to $200. You should also consider the mirror's age and sentimental value. Antique mirrors and family heirlooms are often priceless and irreplaceable, making repair the most sensible or only option.

This can be a matter of personal preference, but a good rule of thumb is to center your bathroom mirror over the sink’s faucet. In some cases, if the sink is off-center in the vanity or  you have multiple sinks in the same vanity, you may find it more aesthetically pleasing to center the mirror over the vanity.

Getting a streak-free shine after cleaning your windows requires both the right cleaning solutions—which can either include warm water and dish soap or warm water and rubbing alcohol—and the right tools—namely, a squeegee and a microfiber cloth. To make your streak-free glass cleaner, combine one gallon of warm water with a few drops of dish soap, and mix. Apply with a sprayer or sponge, and then dry with a squeegee, microfiber cloth, or old black-and-white newspaper pages.
