"Mark Wheeler was the first of four companies to respond to our quote request and also provided the best pricing. While the others gave us start dates of a month to two months out, Wheeler and Son offered a start-time within a week or two. The crew arrived promptly on each day of the 3 day installation; as well as the fourth day for cleanup. The first day involved marking out the pattern for the driveway and, after getting the approval from us, excavating the old asphalt and additional area. On the second and third day the forms were set up, the base material was laid, and the concrete poured and finished. The fourth day is when the forms were removed and topsoil was replaced along the edges. We were impressed with the crew's efficiency, quality, and professionalism. Everyone knew what they were to do and the tasks for each stage proceeded like clockwork. We were more than satisfied with the results and would recommend Mark and the crew highly."

Customers say: Quality work

"My husband is a contractor and he never ever ever hires anyone to do any work at our house, we needed a new concrete driveway so I asked around and got Biondolillos phone number, he came out and talked with my husband and gave us a quote and my husband actually hired him I was shocked because like I said he never hires anybody. Bobby and his crew came out and they were so professional and so nice that I totally recommend them, he gave us some great advice and we totally trusted him to do the job. I would highly highly recommend them! Thx Bobby!"

"John was excellent to work with on my parent's concrete driveway and sidewalks. He is a great communicator who is always important when hiring a contractor. We chose to work with his company over other lower bids because we were so impressed with his plan for our project and coordination of everything we need to run smoothly. We were correct in our choice and have recommended him already and will use him again if needed."

"I wasnâ t sure if I needed porch repair or new porch. William gave me a couple of options and I went with new porch and a section of new concrete for my walk way. William was very professional. He made sure to explained everything and asked it I had any questions or concerns. He also kept me updated with the project which I really appreciated. The porch came out beautifully!"

"After several quotes and researching companies online, I chose to hire Eli and his crew for my driveway project, adding onto an existing driveway. Eli was easy to work with, responded to my calls promptly, and answered all my questions thoroughly. Pricing was competitive and job was completed the next day of hiring them. Driveway looks beautiful! Would recommend!"

"Customer Review: Great Lakes Solutions, LLC Three companies came to give us an estimate, but Bobby Lester—president of Great Lakes Solutions, LLC—stood out from the moment we met him. Even before seeing his quote, we knew he was the one we wanted to work with. Why? Because he was simply a pleasure to talk to. He didn’t push his company, nor did he speak poorly of the others. Instead, Bobby explained the work that needed to be done in a professional and friendly manner. He said he’d work up the numbers and send them to me the following day—true to his word, he did. I asked how long he had been doing this kind of work, specifically fixing patio pavers and re-sanding the joints. That’s when he shared more about his company, and it only added to our confidence. We already had a ballpark figure in mind for the job, and Bobby’s quote landed right within our expectations. My husband and I couldn’t be more pleased. Great Lakes Solutions, LLC is now our go-to company for all landscaping needs."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

No. In spite of its identical chemical makeup, sodium bicarbonate manufactured for blasting purposes has a particular type and size of particles that differs from grocery store baking soda. In addition, this method would not be cost effective because you would need several boxes of baking soda to equal one blast-sized bag of medium.

Yes, you can pressure wash epoxy floors, but you must take precautions to avoid damaging the surface. While most epoxy floors can be cleaned with a mop, you might choose to pressure wash if the floor is stained, has ground-in dirt, or is covered with mold or mildew. To do so safely, first soak any stains or dirty areas with a gentle cleanser. Use a lower pressure setting with a gentle nozzle, such as a green, white, or black tip, or a 45-degree angled tip. Keep the spray nozzle at least 18 inches away from the floor to protect the surface. Using a surface cleaner attachment or a rotary scrubber can also help prevent overspray. Be cautious if using a power washer that heats the water, as the combination of heat and pressure may be too powerful and could damage the epoxy coating.

Some homeowners have luck using pressure washers, but this only works for old or weaker concrete sealants and with very powerful pressure washers. You’ll get better results by pressure washing water-based sealants. However, it’s worth trying on any sealant if you’re hoping for the least toxic, least expensive, and most DIY-friendly option. To try this method, rent or buy the most powerful pressure washer you can find and take several passes at the concrete, completely pressure washing the entire area. You may need to repeat the process multiple times to see results.

If your concrete stains are green in color, it indicates the presence of mold or algae—which you should address right away. If left unattended, mold will spread to other areas throughout the home. However, be careful not to disturb mold on indoor concrete surfaces and work with a local mold remediation specialist for specialized care. Once free from mold and algae, seal your concrete to eliminate pores and gaps.

There’s no legal requirement that states that you need rebar in a concrete driveway, but since the slab will be supporting heavy vehicle loads, it’s always a good idea to pay a bit more for rebar reinforcement. Your driveway will be much more likely to crack if you don’t reinforce it with rebar. Driveways that need to support commercial vehicles or provide parking for multiple vehicles at once should always include rebar reinforcement. If you’re pouring concrete over asphalt or pouring concrete over an existing slab, you may not have enough depth for rebar, meaning an increased risk of cracking.
