"I had a pretty bad flood in my basement after the heavy storms that came through back in June. I realized that my sump pump was the reason so I needed to replace it. I wanted something with more horsepower and after doing some research, I decided an ejector pump would work best for my home. Tyler was very friendly and understanding of my situation. He told me about some options, gave me the literature and a fair price for what I wanted. He and his team were very professional and attentive and definitely knowledgeable about the equipment and installation process. I was a little apprehensive about going with a company that’s just starting out, but Tyler gave me a good feeling about their company and products. I’m very happy with the installation and the service I received. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them again (although I hope I never have to) for any future needs. We have multiple rental properties, so I would call him first if I ever need service at any of them. A+++"

"Project: Inside waterproofing, sump pump, foundation support. They were able to complete the project three weeks early allowing us to keep the house on the market and obtain a contract on the house. The crew was knowledgeable, hard working and friendly. I only wish we would have done this years ago."

"I called WyattWorks Plumbing because my kitchen drain was backing up. I was really impressed with their procedure for appointments. They emailed a photo and the name of the plumber that was coming, along with the date and time. On the scheduled day of arrival the service guy called to let me know exactly what time he would arrive, and came around that time. He examined the problem, and explained that they would have to go through the basement floor to reach the clog and replace the pipe. After giving him the ok, he went to work unclogging my drain. The job itself was much more time consuming and took a lot more effort than I imagined it would, but after two crews of plumbers and hours of work, they finally unclogged the drain! They were very courteous and professional, and the quality of their work was excellent. I thought at first that the price was rather high, but after all the work they put into the job and the quality of the finished project, I'd say it was well worth the cost. I will definitely use WyattWorks in the future! D Bowie Your review will be posted publicly on the web. Learn more"

"Had Betts Structural Engineering come and look at the foundation of a house we were in contract on. Josh came out and was professional and informative. He informed us the foundation was failing and explained what needed to be done. He throughly explained everything and told us how we could do it ourselves for much cheaper than a contractor could do it. In the end he saved us from a long and expensive process if we proceeded with the house."

Small jobs welcome

"Came out as soon as they could after calling. Almost 100 year old dump trap failed causing water to overflow from upstairs bath to first floor and basement. Opened ceiling and installed up to code parts/new drain pipes within approximately 5 hours. Very professional. Explained process. Cleaned up after."

"We belong to the comfort club and have the units serviced 2 times per year. This year the whole house system did not pass testing and could not be charged up with coolant. We anticipated replacement previously so this was no surprise. To be honest, I was dreading this day, but to my pleasure I am very happy we did this work.
Roy Anderson came out and made a quote. He offered several systems. We selected a higher end system. The equipment manufacturer was offering a rebate and we also got discounts and energy credit. The transition was seamless and finished in one day. They removed the old and took it away as the new one was installed. Absolutely no mess or inconvenience to us. They also helped set up the city inspection to follow. Courteous and nice. The A/C unit is virtually silent when running. The house is around 2600 sq ft and cooled very fast ( a good thing since this is the heat of July). They added a one yr freebie to our comfort club membership."

Adam was extremely nice when I spoke with him on the phone.  He explained what had to be done and we scheduled an appointment and told me that there was no need to be at home in order for him to perform the services (I was unable to schedule time off from work the day of the service).  I checked Angie's List to see if there was a deal for handyman services and there was, so I purchased the deal for $215.00 for two hours of handyman service.

When Adam finished the work, he called me to inform me of what services took place and indicated that he would leave the invoice on by sun porch.  I explained to Adam that I purchased a deal from Angie's List for two hours for $215.00 and Adam indicated that there was an overage, so I told him to leave the invoice and I would see to it that he was paid.  Upon arriving at home, I noted the front area of the roof and it was completed perfectly and then I noted the back and it was ok, but I knew that it was because he used the longer de-icing cables on the front and the shorter one on the back, so I was ok with what was done.  It was upon entering my home through the sun porch, where I noted that I had an invoice for $155.00.  I called Adam immediately; although was not able to reach him, so I left a message asking that he call me to explain the additional charges.

As I did not receive a call over the weekend, I called Adam on Monday, November 2, 2015 to inquire with regards to the additional $155.00, and Adam explained that the additional cost was due to another technician being added to the job and the tech took 1.75 hours to install the de-icing cable on the front of the house.  I informed Adam that the deal did not specify per person, to which Adam stated that it was in the fine print of the deal and that Angie's List had this information.  Adam further stated, "that if I did not have the monies right now, that I could mail it to him when I did have it."  I told him that I did not agree, but I would pay this, but I did not agree with the per person charge.

When I hung up, I wanted verification from Angie's List that the deal indicated per person and upon speaking with a representative from Angie's List, she informed me that there was no such item mentioned in the deal at all and that there should not have been any additional charges outside of the $215.00 if I did not exceed the two hour timeframe.  I assured the representative that the invoice indicates 1.75 hours, so I did not exceed the timeframe and asked what could be done in order to resolve the issue.

My complaint was sent to the Angie's List eCommerce who attempted to contact Adam several times, all unsuccessful.  While I did not pay the additional monies, it was very concerning that I was charged for an additional person and I will not use Neatnics again.

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, many modern water pumps are designed with energy efficiency in mind. Look for pumps with high efficiency ratings or those with an Energy Star certification. These pumps consume less power and can reduce your utility bills. Additionally, variable-speed pumps are more efficient since they can adjust the flow based on demand, providing significant savings over time.

If your basement often leaks after heavy rain, it’s probably caused by hydrostatic pressure. When the ground is saturated with water, it can put pressure on the exterior of your home’s foundation, causing cracks in the basement wall and pushing water through any existing weak spots. Over time, hydrostatic pressure can cause structural damage to your home.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

Yes, the air from a damp basement can travel up into your living area through a process called the stack effect, so moisture, mold spores, and other debris in your basement air can all decrease your indoor air quality on your main floors. Additionally, damp basements can promote the rotting of building materials, which can damage flooring, insulation, and framing on your first floor in addition to materials in the basement.
