"Highly highly recommend!! Iâ ve used SuperTec now a few times for my own personal home & also my many rentals in the area & they have always been extremely responsive & efficient!! To put in prospective, a few different â HVACâ companies couldnâ t fix my furnace and SuperTec fixed it in less than an hour! "We were very pleased with the service that we received from CARE! I contacted three different companies and they were the first to respond and their estimate was the cheapest. We were looking for a basic system and that is exactly what we got. We did not feel pressured to get anything more than we asked for and Andy was very helpful. Matt and Kirk, who installed our new system, were fast and efficient. We will definitely contact CARE again in the future for any HVAC needs."

"We had a great experience with Franklin Heating/Cooling and their employee Tony when they came to fix our AC. From start to finish, Tony was professional, efficient, and incredibly honest. It's not every day you come across a service company that doesn't try to upsell unnecessary repairs or replacements. They took the time to thoroughly assess the issue, explain what needed fixing, and offered a clear, fair solution. We really appreciated his transparency and how he genuinely prioritized our best interest over making a quick sale. It's rare to find companies that are this trustworthy, and I will definitely be using them for any future HVAC needs. Highly recommend!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

To reduce AC startup power for a whole-house generator, install a soft start kit or hard start capacitor, which lowers the initial surge by gradually ramping up the compressor. Using a smart load manager can also help by staggering startup loads, preventing a system overload and future costly repairs.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.

Traditional central air conditioning systems require ductwork to circulate air throughout the home. Alternatively, you can add air conditioning with a mini-split ductless air conditioning system, which can be just as energy efficient as a central air conditioner. This type of system consists of two units–an outside unit that holds the compressor and condenser and an indoor unit that holds an air-handler. With multi-zone ductless systems, there are multiple indoor air handlers tied to a single outdoor compressor/condenser, allowing the system to cool multiple rooms.

Yes, the furnace and AC use the same blower. The blower is located in the base of the furnace and pushes hot air out of the furnace and into the ducts. It also pushes cool air through the home when the air conditioning is on. Even though the furnace and air conditioning work independently of one another, the blower is an essential component for both systems.

On average, an AC unit lasts between 10 and 20 years. However, the specific lifespan depends on the type of unit, how often it's used, the local climate, and the quality of maintenance. Central AC units typically last 12 to 17 years, while window units have a shorter lifespan of 8 to 10 years. Portable AC units last about 5 to 10 years, and ductless mini-split systems can last up to 20 years. To extend the life of your AC unit, it's important to perform regular maintenance, such as replacing filters, cleaning coils, and scheduling annual professional tune-ups.
