"Zack was fantastic, and cleared out 3 vents which had gotten birds nesting in them, and then made sure they were secure so more couldn't get in. One of the vents was ridiculously high, and he had to come back the next day with a longer ladder! He was so brave to climb that thing and handle all that while it was windy out. Plus he was very careful to maintain safe social distancing and other safety measures during this pandemic. It's important we all look out for each other now, and I'm glad he's staying safe and helping others stay safe, too."

"I had not any birds come back. I thought they were very professional and caring about the work that they were doing, I was very pleased. Their price was far less than anybody that I called. They were very accommodating and did clean up after work."

"Excellent. Randy promptly returned my call, gave us a free in-person (not over the phone) estimate. Within a few days he removed the birds, closed the holes and painted the area. He was very professional and gave us a fair price. I've already recommended him to a neighbor."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

When it comes to keeping birds from doing their business on your porch rails, you have several DIY options and home remedies you can try:

  • Tie a fishing line from one end of the deck post to the other. Birds won’t be able to see the line across the railing, so they can’t land on it.

  • Hang wind chimes close by, which may scare birds away.

  • Apply a bird gel repellent to the railings, which contains smells that birds generally don’t like. Or, similarly, you can apply citronella or lemon oil around the railings, since birds don’t like strong smells.

Numerous predators kill hornets, including frogs, birds, lizards, bats, spiders, and hedgehogs. Some larger predators, including rats, skunks, and racoons, will occasionally attack a hornet nest in order to eat the larvae inside. These natural predators typically don’t eat enough hornets to make them an effective form of hornet control.

Fake owls are a common goose deterrent decoy and one of the most humane ways to scare away geese. Unfortunately, some geese are wise to fake predators. Decoys can be more effective if you move them around frequently or purchase ones with motion features. Decoys that move in the wind are also more effective than stationary decoys.

Strong scents like peppermint, rosemary, lavender, citronella, and others can repel woodpeckers—as pungent smells can overpower their senses. For that reason, you might consider making a homemade spray with one or a combination of these scents to spritz around areas of your home where woodpeckers frequent.

In most cases, a mother bird will return to a disturbed nest after the disturbance has passed. However, it can be hard for a mother bird to find a relocated nest. So, while it’s false that a mother bird will abandon her nest if it’s been disturbed, it’s not a good idea to relocate a nest with live babies or eggs in it.
