Let our energy management company audit your home to help reduce monthly energy consumption. End heat transfer with spray foam, insulation, radon detection & reduction, duct sealing, or new windows & doors. Make your home energy efficient today! We are Angie's List Super Service Award Winners 5 years in a row.

"I had a fantastic experience with Greene Solutions! Every point of contact was professional, from office associates to the company's owner. I own an old house (100 years old) with knob-and-tube wiring. That old wiring threw a spanner in the works, i.e., the old wiring had to come out in order to install insulation. I had a devil of a time finding an electrical company to do this job. Finally I called Greene Solution's owner (I was in tears) and said I was giving up; no one would do the job. He told me he'd try to find a company while I was vacationing in VT. Well, when I got back, he'd located a company and my contacts with that company (Brett Short Circuits) were completely satisfactory. There were several phases to my project, and all went splendidly. The solar attic fan was installed and I'm very pleased. Basement ductwork was sealed (Aeroseal). My goodness! Positive results were immediate: I moved one entire category higher in efficient usage with both the gas and electric companies! The old attic insulation was removed before the electrical work started. Greene Solutions did this attic cleaning. What a dirty job! Given the age of my house, the workers had to contend with a mega-buildup of old coal dust. Yuck! The electrical company (Brett Short Circuits) then did the rewiring of my entire house. This was a huge job and I was completely satisfied with their work. The team of electricians assigned to my job was excellent, extremely hard workers. They were very conscientious about cleaning before they left each evening. They used canvas drop cloths to cover my furniture as they moved from room to room. Finally, they kept me entirely 'in the loop' re their schedules. I appreciated their courteous and respectful attitudes. Their work was approved and signed off on immediately by city inspectors. New wiring in place, the project then moved to the insulation phase of the project. Greene Solutions did this phase of the project. It took two days to get this job done. Attic, walls, and basement were insulated. This was another hugely dirty job, given the old coal dust in my house. For those of you who don't have experience with coal dust ... thank your lucky stars. It gets into everything (even wood grain) and it stays. This particular phase of the project took two days. I was very pleased with Greene Solution's team of workers. They were courteous, respectful of my space, and were heads-down workers. Another great team! Door installation awaits delivery of the doors. Of course, all had to be custom-made, given the age of my house. Greene Solutions will do this phase of the project and I anticipate no problems. I highly recommend Greene Solutions. I am very pleased with the partnership we forged as I took steps towards reducing my carbon footprint."

"Do not use Kustom Home Inspection for your home inspection. We utilized the company in July of 2020 to inspect a home we were in contract for. There were multiple instances where the inspector was not thorough, and or, utilized an excuse to not inspect further. For example, the inspection report stated, "Sump pump was not accessible for testing due to being sealed for radon mitigation system." The house is sealed for radon, but the sump pump is easily accessible by removing an unsecured cover. Shame on me for not inquiring further, but isn't that what I paid them $400 for?"

Our primary service is Radon Reduction and Vapor Intrusion. We are proud to work with homeowners, real estate transactions, business and commercial properties. In our company, we have fully licensed Radon Specialists (radon testing and mitigation) with more than 50 years’ of combined experience in radon gas testing & mitigation. All Radon Systems technicians have been professionally trained to properly install radon mitigation systems as required in the U.S. EPA Radon Mitigation Standards.

"I found that the home I had just bought in December of 2023 was tested and recorded a radon level of 40 piCu/l [micrograms of radon gas in a litre of air]. The safe level recommended is to be below 4 piCu/l. This was an unfortunate set back on an expensive investment. I was very concerned with getting the radon level down to safe livable level when I contacted Radon Systems. After talking with Lucas I was somewhat assured that they could mitigate the radon gas from its current levels down to below the acceptable 4 piCu/l and maybe even exceed reading. I was worried about them not being able to accomplish this and asked Lucas the "What if" question. He assured me that they could expand the system to get there if the after action test showed the level was still to high. "We've mitigated houses with levels in the hundreds" he said. I contracted with them to start within two weeks. After the mitigation my level was recorded as 0.8 !!!!!! I am so happy and satisfied with the installation and the results. THANK YOU Lucas and David! Great to work with and lots of professional integrity. Ken"

Providing complete Home Inspection Service. Home Inspection Services of Lancaster, LLC is member of the American Association of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and follows or exceeds the standards set by the organization. Lead inspector, Merwyn Bowdish, has earned the ASHI CRI designation. Foundation, structure, exterior, electrical, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, windows, roof, porches, decks, grading, garage, insulation, appliances, and more are inspected. Complete written report with photos is given to client. Often buying a home is very emotional. We inspect without that emotion and look at the home from an objective view point. It is often the largest single purchase a person or family is ever going to make. The home buyer should know everything about the home we can visually inspect. The home buyer is encouraged to attend the inspection. A verbal review is given immediately following the inspection and a written report is issued within one working day. Go to our web site: www.hisoflancaster.com and watch the posted video that takes you through what we will do when inspecting the home you intend to purchase.

"I recently hired Merwin Bowdish for a home inspection, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a costly mistake. Despite assurances of thoroughness, the inspection fell short, resulting in significant financial repercussions exceeding $60,000. From the outset, Bowdish seemed professional and knowledgeable, but his lack of attention to detail became apparent as issues began to surface post-inspection, leading to unforeseen expenses after purchasing the property. My experience with Merwin Bowdish Home Inspection Services was deeply disappointing and financially detrimental. I strongly advise against utilizing his services, as the consequences of his inadequate inspection can be substantial and far-reaching. Proceed with extreme caution when considering Bowdish for your home inspection needs."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on property size, test types, and additional services like mold sampling.

The short answer is no, air purifiers do not help with radon. While they certainly can improve the air quality of your home, they only clean pollutants from the air. Radon is radioactive, and it isn’t affected by the same filtration systems that handle other airborne particles, like dust and mold. The only thing that works is a radon mitigation system.

Radon testing costs around $450 on average, but you could pay between $150 and $800 for testing, depending on a few factors. The size of your house is one of the most significant cost factors, as your radon professional will have to set up additional tests for homes with larger footprints. The type of test can also have an impact on the cost. Finally, some radon testing companies will include a recommended protocol for radon mitigation, while others might charge $50 to $100 extra.

DIY radon detection is possible using over-the-counter test kits, but professional testing can provide more accurate assessments, especially in cases of high initial readings.

You can buy DIY radon test kits from a home improvement store and conduct radon testing, but these tests are often inaccurate. No matter the result, you should supplement DIY testing with professional radon detection and analysis. DIYers only have access to passive radon tests, which aren’t as reliable as active tests that professionals use. Plus, it’s very easy for DIYers to make mistakes during testing, leading to inaccurate results. If you’re moving into a new home, have concerns about radon, or are due for an updated test, hire a professional.
