"This is the first time I used Wyatt Works and could not be more pleased. Edward arrived on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. He made sure I was a satisfied customer and happy with the work performed before he left. I would give Edward and Wyatt Works more than 5 stars if I could, and they will definitely be my first and only call for any future plumbing needs I may need."

"Very professional, knowledgeable, and honest. Out of the three quotes I received, his quotes were the fairest and he was the most experienced. In fact he saved me money by telling me what didn t need done! I have a full house renovation that was built in 1947 with all original plumbing and drains. He installed whole house PEX plumbing, all new drains, ran new gas lines inside and outside for a pool heater, and installed a hot water heater. He also was able to do work the other plumbers were hesitant to do, such as replace our water meter where the water main comes into the house. The work was done very well in the efficient timeframe he estimated. He also gave us sound guidance on how to prioritize our future work and what it would involve. All workers were professional in appearance, polite, and very friendly. He was also extremely flexible working around our concrete contractor who inconveniently show up to pour a new sidewalk the same day he was here to complete this huge job. I have only praise for his customer service and not one complaint. I just found my plumber for all future projects! I m just thrilled."

"Tri-County Electric Services was able to send a plumber out the next day to provide estimates for a few projects in my home. Chris M. arrived at my home and was professional, knowledgable, straight forward, and friendly. He quoted me fair prices to install a new toilet and new kitchen faucet, both of which I had previously purchased independently and had at home ready to install. I was very happy that he was able to complete the installs that day. He also fixed a minor leak below a bathroom sink. All around a great experience! I will definitely hire them again for future plumbing needs. Chris explained that the company recently added a plumbing division to complement their electric services. Thank you for a job well done!"

"I noticed a leak in the main soil drain pipe where it connects to the clean out junction just before going into the cement floor of our basement and connecting to the lateral line to the sewers. I suspected the drain must be clogged and was allowing the liquid to drain onto the floor through a broken seal on the connection. I checked Angie's List and called Allen Drain Service. Two technicians came out and performed the and inspection. They explained to me that I needed a plumber to replace the pipe and possibly the clean out junction and that it may require a partial dig out of the concrete floor around the clean out junction.

I was so surprised when they said I didn't owe them anything. Many service companies will charge a fee just for showing up, but I was not charged by this company, even though they provided a quick inspection and test of my drain system that resulted in the correct diagnosis, an explanation of the probable repair, and a suggestion for a proper service provider. They were very honest, professional and courteous and I still cannot get over the fact that they did not charge me for a service call. They said they didn't do any work that would justify a fee. They merely said if I, or anyone I knew ever needed drain service, to please give Allen Drain Service a call. I will certainly do that. Allen Drain Service is an asset to residents of NE Ohio.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Mid-century homes in Stow feature original cast iron drains, galvanized steel supply pipes, and clay sewer laterals that add complexity to your project. You must check if your property has a full basement, because accessing pipes embedded in the concrete floor requires structural adjustments. Additionally, ranch-style builds have long horizontal drain runs that make repairs complex. A local professional will assess these layouts and the clay-heavy soils before starting any plumbing work.

Helpful?

Simple plumbing repairs take one day to finish. Larger jobs, like a full bathroom remodel or sewer lateral replacement, require three to seven days of active work. You must factor in the time required for municipal permit processing and scheduling mandatory rough-in and final inspections. Winter freeze-thaw cycles in OH cause frozen ground, which delays exterior trenching and extends project timelines significantly.

Helpful?

You must verify that your contractor holds an active state license and carries general liability insurance. The professional needs extensive experience navigating local permit requirements and mandatory municipal inspections. Because mid-century properties feature outdated cast iron or clay tile systems, your contractor must understand how to upgrade these materials to current OH code standards. They must also possess strong knowledge of local clay-heavy soils before starting underground plumbing work.

Helpful?

Watch out for contractors who ask you to pull the permit yourself, as state law mandates the licensed professional handle this. Another red flag is a contractor failing to assess your existing pipe materials before defining the project scope. Bids for older homes in Stow must include necessary code upgrades for disturbed systems. Reject any proposals that promise unrealistically fast timelines, as this indicates the contractor plans to skip mandatory municipal plumbing inspections.

Helpful?

Opening walls for plumbing updates exposes outdated electrical wiring that requires immediate assessment. In homes with full basements, accessing buried drain lines involves cutting through the concrete floor slab, which impacts your foundation and waterproofing integrity. Additionally, replacing a water heater directly affects dedicated electrical circuits and gas venting. A certified contractor in Stow will evaluate these structural and mechanical intersections to keep your entire home safe and sound.
